Do this pranayam to improve your breathing. You will feel the benefit in days.
Build up your timing gradually. If you feel tired or dizzy, stop and resume after one minute.
Anulom Vilom pranayam –
Close your right nostril with thumb and deep breath-in through left nostril
then – close left nostril with two fingers and breath-out through right nostril
then -keeping the left nostril closed  deep breath-in through right nostril
then - close your right nostril with thumb and breath-out through left nostril.
This is one cycle of anulom vilom.
Repeat this cycle for 15 to 30  minutes twice a day.
Children under 15 years – do 5 to 10 minutes twice a day.
You can do this before breakfast/lunch/dinner or before bedtime or in bed.Remember to take deep long breaths into the lungs. You can do this while sitting on floor or chair or lying in bed.

You should try some OTC acid reflux medications.  I have the same foamy spit (including white chunks if my breathing is super bad.

Anixety and Asthma are also interconnected with acid reflux because they can all increase each others symptoms.

The main question is, does the rescue inhaler stop the breathing symptoms? If it does then the symptoms were due to an asthma attack.  If they don't you should try an anti-anixety medication - if that doesn't help then you need to talk to your doctor about trying or testing for acid reflux.

Huge difference for me .... I'm also off my asthma meds because it's completely acid reflux and not asthma even though an "asthma attack" caused me to spend 2 days in the doctor's office getting nebs (O2 stats even dropped from my usual 98-100 down to 93-95) and my family doctor was just about to send me to the hosiptal.

The best test to show how bad the asthma is, is a methacholine challenege test, it tests how hyper-reactive your lungs are.

Keep pushing and looking and eventually you will find the right drug combination to feel great!

I have both asthma and anxiety so I know what you are talking about feeling. I have had Dr.'s not believe me because my O2 sats don't really drop like some people and I also don't wheeze most of the time when I have a attack. I mostly get chest tightness and shortness of breath. The problem with asthma and anxiety is that you can start having trouble with one and it will make the other worse.  So if you are having an asthma attack you will get anxious because you can't breath and that will make your asthma worse. Its just one horrible circle that is very hard to break a lot of the time.

I hope this helps some.

Several things.  First you need a rescue inhaler - some form of albuterol.  Advair is for maintenance not rescue.  Advair takes 15 minutes to act which is too long if you are in distress.

Second, 4 times a day?  The meds in Advari are 12 hour meds and they should only be taken twice a day.  What strength are you on?  Also, are you on the discus or the Hfa?  Dry powder inhalers like the discus can cause more irritation because of the size of the particles and they contain milk.  Also, dry powder inhalers are hard to use.  I would suggest that if you really need a maintenance med that you ask about an Hfa version and get a spacer to take it with.

Take care and feel better.

I don't know whether you have asthma or anxiety but I can tell you what I do know.  Please only take the Advair like the dr. prescribed.  Only 4 puffs per day!  Advair is only a maintence drug which will only help you over time but it is not an emergency inhaler (like ventolin or proair).  Advair if not taken as prescribed can make things worse and can make you very ill.  Please never take more than the 4 puffs per day.  Anxiety can do really bizarre things to people.  It can make you feel like you are sufficating.  When you feel this stop, sit down, take a breath in through your nose and blow out slowly through your mouth (shut the world out) and do this about 10 times slowly.  See if this makes you feel better at all.  Think of your favorite things when you are doing this.  If you are having anxiety this bad why are they not treating that?  It truly is a real problem for people.  Hang in there and try to figure out if there is something that triggers this to happen.  Sucking on some ice or drinking a coke can help the asthma too if you don't have an emergency inhaler.  A cold wash cloth around your throat can help too.  Goodluck.
