can anyone help?

I have had asthma for a every long time and my throat is swollen so it is even harder for me the breathe in this weather which temperature is up to 90 degrees F. It feels like i have something stuck in my throat and no way to get it unstuck. I also have a very difficult time swallowing, and every time i drink any type of drink my throat seem to get dry and it is very annoying. If there is any fast cure please post a to this. Thank you

Can I ask why you would like the email addresses?  I am not in the the habit of giving them out over the internet.  I do know that website for my allergist, which I may share with you privately.

ive had similar problems. My doctor told me its because of the inhaler resedue that gets left in the throat. I now use a "spacer" to take my inhalers and the problem cleared up.

I am generally not a fan of 'natural" or health food treatments, however I strongly believe in probiotics. Sinc eyou have been on such a strong antibiotic replacing the digestive bacteria your system requires to digest food properly would be a good idea.  It could also help your possible acid reflux a lot.  I know I cannot do without probiotics in controlling mine.   I take Solaray Multidophilus-12 since I had very severe laryngitis casued by acid reflux.  It is the highest potency and most complete probiotic available.  Buy it from a reputable health food store who keeps it stored in a refrigerator or the (what should be) live bacteria might be dead.  I know it sounds odd to actually take bacteria, but it is true that proper digestion of food requires these bacteria.  That is what makes those digestive yogurts work, and turns milk into cheese.

Another supplement I think is beneficial is digestive enzymes.  They are typically taken with a meal.

Still praying that you find your answers.  Try the acid reflux meds.  They won't be a fast fix, but they should help in about two weeks, but start with the better ones like Prilosec or Zantac.

i have never tried acid reflux medication but i think i should use it but im not positive... Avelox is a very strong antibiodic and i think it helped somewhat but i still have mucus in my throat which wont like me swallow my saliva.. the first day i used avelox the effects were really strong and was almost sent to the ER... but after 12 hours it started to loosen up and now im using splitting it in half and swallow half every twelve hours so the effects wont be as strong...

i think i am almost fully recovered execpt for the mucus building up in my throat.. if you happen to know a quick why to get rid of it  can you tell me... Thank You so much for your time and advise...

Avelox is another antibiotic.  I don't know how long it will take to clear out of your system.  That would depend on what kind of antibiotic it was and how you metabolize it.

Do a search for its side effects and see if they match up.  Your dr does need to know about your reaction to the medicine so that he doesn't give it to you again.

Have you tried acid reflux meds yet?

Ok, so all you have had is an antibiotic and a mild pain medicine.  I looked them up.

Go to a pharmacy and pick up something with omeprazole in it like Prilosec to try for two weeks.  You can layer that with an H2 blocker like Pepcid AC or something with ranitidine (better choice).  Take the Prilosec early in the day like before breakfast or mid afternoon and the H2 blocker at bed time.  It is an experiment, but it could help.

Also, do a search for non-medicinal treatments for heart burn.  I know it sounds unlikely.  There is a form a acid reflux that does not cause heart burn, but can cause your symptoms and even sinus infections.

If this helps at all, talk to your dr about possible prescription meds for acid reflux.

Good luck.

Tea made it worse?  Caffeine is a mild broncho dilater and should help.  That is odd.

Have you tried anything for acid reflux?  Zantac? Pepcid AC?  Omeprazole? Zegrid?  Prilosec?

What did the dr give you for the swollen throat?  Prednesone?

These are some pretty unusual symptoms. You should be staying in close contact with the dr's office and make sure that they know that the medicine is not working, and that you are unable to eat or drink. Remember it is called the Art of Medicine.  Sometimes there is a lot of guess work to diagnose the problem and trial and error to find what works to fix it.

Keep working with your dr and hold the accountable to find the answer for you.  Try to be as patient as you can, but not too much.

I pray that you find some real answers soon.

I went to see the doctor on Tuesday and he told me that it will pass by in a day and its been five days. He said it was swollen but did not tell me how or what caused the swelling. And the doctor gave me medicine for "swollen throat" but not seeing any improvements. Im getting worried because im an athlete and this problem is preventing me from practicing with my team. I also tried to drink tea but that only made my asthma worse and i could hardly breathe. so If there is any other suggestions please tell me I will be happy to listen... Thank You.

You should see your dr very soon.

It sounds like you could have serious acid reflux issues with some of your symptoms, but with your asthma you should have that checked out by a dr.

Feel better.
