The best way to know if it is asthma or not is to buy a peak flow meter and test before and after drinking something cold.  If your peak flow drops, then yes your asthma is triggered by cold drinks, however I have never heard of that happening.

Cold drinks can induce vocal chord dysfunction which has similar symptoms to asthma and can be a problem in people with or without asthma.  Lung function tests can normally distinguish between the two if taken at times where there are symptoms.

Hi,
I have asthma triggered by cold surroundings. Whenever I go skiing it starts. The combination of cold and high altitude always does it. I haven't heard of drinking cold things resulting in it.
