Hi everyone!!

First of all congratulations to you all!!!  Last Sunday I found out I was pregnant with my first child.  It will be the first baby in a long time on both sides of the family, not to mention the first grandchild on both sides also.  Needless to say everyone is thrilled, including my husband and I of course.  We told everyone for Christmas which was extra special.  However, this has made me so nervous because I haven't even seen my doctor yet.  I calculated my due date with the nifty pregnancy calculator which I'm sure many of you used also :).  Just curious about what to expect for my first ob/gyn appointment???  How soon can I get an ultrasound??  I am about five weeks now (by my own calculations)  Looking forward to going to the doctor..  Glad to see that a forum for this due date already exsists

congrats!

as far as first appointments go, I think it depends a lot on the doc. I was told the first appointment would be a pelvic exam, family history, complete blood work, and lots of menstrual questions.

For me, when i went in to see my doc, He asked a couple questions and gave me orders to go get blood work to check my hcg, and an ultrasound. He said he wanted to make sure i had a viable pregnancy ( and not eptopic because i've had cramping) before he put me through all the pelvic exams and such.

Now my second appointment will include the family history, calculating fetal age, exams, and more in-depth blood work
