behavoural problem

Doctor, My son is 4 yr old and is in montessori 2 in INDIA. He is the only child I am working as nurse educator and my husband is working in hotel  Being the only child I dont give his extra privilege, but yes,  He is diagnosed to have vision deficit problem and takes books very close to eyes and goes close to tv to watch it. this is permitted by pediatric and neuro opthalmologist.
I have always noticed that he cant sit for more than few min in one place nor can do one work for more than few min. Even while coloring he doesn't show patience to colour it fully. yes his vision has a role, but if I sit all the time tell him repeadedly then somehow he completes. But this is  a big problem in school. teacher says he cant sit in one place, disturbs others, hits others some time, when teaching he is not very listening, BUT VERY SMART AND INTELLIGENT. yes grasps things fast. But telling him to be polite to others listen to teacher  not to trouble others, doesnt fall on his ears. every PTA meeting teacher says this. every year this was what teachers have reported. Teachers are very supportive, and tell me not to punish him, but says they feel tired with him. OTHER THAN HE NOT HAVING COMPANY TO PLAY HE IS BROUGHT UP LIKE ANY OTHER CHILD. when I feel very troubled by some activities of his like, beating (even me) sometimes only, not being quiet in the church or any  other place of gathering , etc i I do beat him. he knows for what I will scold or beat him, then also he does these things. I have even tried many times b y talking to his patiently . Teacher says may what we say doesnt enter his head. He is told by every one he is very intelligent boy. but this problem.
what to do
what his problem/ how can I help him? when i possted this problem in the net a padiatrician mentopned to refer developmental paeditrician, psychiatrist and said he may be having autism spectrum disorder. Plese do
answer.

regards
larissa

Given your description, it seems unlikely that your child would be diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder. Of course, I still recommend that you follow up with your pediatrian.

Doctor,
his social interaction is good/ When I take to  him to college function he moves with every one. he plays with every one.Even IN THE CRECHE he is interacting with other children. NO REPETITIVE BEHAVIOUR. Only thing is he is very much troubling in school as he doesn't listen to them which they tell repeatedly.

You did not mention difficulties with social interaction or repetitive behavior, which are primary characteristics of autism spectrum disorders. It sounds as those his difficulties with attention and other behavior problems are the primary concern. The website of the Behavior Analysis Certification Board has a list of certified professionals, and there are a few in India (http://www.bacb.com/becom_frame.html). I think it would beneficial for you to get some professional help with your son's behavior. There are some fairly simple behavior management programs that would likely work well. In addition, please discuss any developmental concerns with your regualar pediatrician who could direct you to some local resources for assessment, if necessary.
