strange behaviour

Hi

My concerns are that my baby boy still not saying alot he only has about 8 words that he will say but the worrying part is he use to have 15 about 6 months ago, other strange things are he lick's everything and i mean everything me, himself,  the dog!!, t.v you name it, he is also obsessed with button, holes and phones he is always pressing the foxtel button and phone buttons  wanting the phone and will carry on if the phone is taken off him. He will not sleep unless im in the same room he screams for me if im in a different room and i mean scream as if he is hurt. he is intellegent more so than my other kids at that age.
I should also mention that from the time he wakes up till the time he goes to sleep he does not sit still AT ALL always running, jumping, climbing, falling all day everyday but it seems to be the same everyday in the same order over and over again even if i try and change it with games we have to play the same game or do the same thing for about 20 min .... he still does not sleep all night he will wake call me and then go back to sleep about 3 time a night and he knows as soon as im not in the room cause he starts screaming if i leave to go bathroom. Sorry it is very long but his ped only tells me he is overstimulated and wont listen to my other concerns.. i have another appointment with him next week..

Should i be concerned cause i am and what should i be concerned about...

Much of what you describe is common with typically developing children but a delay in communication is enough to warrant having your son assessed. The assessment process and seeking early intervention is helpful even if your son doesn’t receive an autism diagnosis. Also, it sounds like you aren’t entirely comfortable with your pediatrician. If that’s the case, I absolutely recommend seeking out another who you feel is more receptive to your concerns.

I think I would try a different pediatrician. I don't know if your son has symptoms of autism, but there is definately something going on.
