What to do?

My 7 yo son has been waking up at all hours of the night crying, banging his head, kicking his legs, biting and punching. He is now doing this one or two times every night and each time his fits last for about 1 hour. This has been going on for the last 3 months. His doctor prescribed Clonidin and we have been giving it to him every night but it is not helping. The doctor checked his ears, nose and throat and no infections. He went to the dentist and had a baby tooth pulled that had a cavity. He has no illness or teeth problems. My son, wife and I are suffering greatly. I think my son won't make it much longer. Any suggestion would be helpful.
