Vaccinations

Has anyone ever linked autism with routine vaccines ??

I am thinking we are at an impasse.  I feel a little impassioned about this as a parent and am longing for closure on the topic.  Vaccines are here to stay and many states are tightening their expectations for parents to vaccinate.

Parents should all talk to their own pediatricians and make this decision as a family.  luck to all

Are you a parent lightseeker?  Diseases have been almost eliminated because of vaccines and there is no proof that they have anything to do with autism.

It doesn't benefit a parent that has an autistic child to continue along the path of pushing information that has tried to be proven and just cant be.  It doesn't help new parents to be scared of vaccines who then might make the fatal mistake of skipping them.  Sure, their kids are 'safer' because the rest of us vaccinate but their child is exposed and exposes others by not vaccinating and that is something that appears to be getting less popular these days rather than more so.

Here is information from the Center for Disease Control or CDC written for parents who may be reading this that have concerns about vaccines and why you shouldn't.

http://www.cdc.gov/vaccinesafety/Concerns/Autism/Index.html

They  urge parents to vaccinate their children and state there is no link ever proven.

AND HERE IS SOMETHING, JUST RECENTLY POSTED FROM AUTISM SPEAKS THAT URGES PARENTS TO VACCINATE BECAUSE VACCINES DO NOT CAUSE AUTISM:

https://www.autismspeaks.org/science/policy-statements/information-about-vaccines-and-autism

Over the last two decades, extensive research has asked whether there is any link between childhood vaccinations and autism.  The results of this research are clear: Vaccines do not cause autism.  We urge that all children be fully vaccinated.

The above statement is from Rob Ring of Autsim Speaks and their statement TO PARENTS.

Here is something on their website about how close together vaccines are given and the multiple vaccines in one dose also having no risk of autism:

https://www.autismspeaks.org/science/science-news/study-addresses-%E2%80%98too-many-too-soon%E2%80%99-vaccine-concerns

Today, the Journal of Pediatrics published the first major study to look specifically at a possible link between autism and increasing exposure to the immune-stimulating compounds in early childhood vaccines.

The researchers analyzed the vaccination and medical records of more than a thousand children in three managed care organizations. They totaled each child’s exposure to the immune-stimulating compounds, or antigens, in vaccines up to age 2. (Vaccines vary in the amount of antigens they contain.) The researchers also totaled the maximum exposure to vaccine antigens that each child received in any single day. They then tracked the children’s development through at least age 6.

They found no link between increased risk of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and higher exposures to vaccine antigens in the first two years of life or on any one day. More specifically, they looked for associations with regressive autism. This subtype of autism involves the development and later loss of early language skills. Here, too, they found no association with increased early exposure to the immune-stimulating compounds in vaccines.

“This study adds to the existing epidemiological studies showing no link between vaccines and autism,” noted Chief Science Officer Geri Dawson, PhD. “This research is very important for addressing the concerns of families. However, we still don’t fully understand the causes of autism.  It is crucial that we increase research funding on both the causes and more effective treatments for autism.”

The case-control study was led by epidemiologists in the Immunization Safety Office of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). It included 256 children with diagnosed ASD and 752 normally developing children matched by birth year and gender. Among those with autism, 49 had experienced regression. All the children were enrolled in one of three managed healthcare programs. All those diagnosed with autism underwent in-person assessments. Born between 1994 and 1999, the children received their vaccinations between 1994 and 2002.

The researchers note that the immunization schedule in effect during those years included vaccines that were cruder, or more antigenic, than current vaccines. As such, they were more likely to cause side effects. “Even though the routine childhood schedule in 2012 contains several more vaccines than the schedule in the late 1990s,” they write, “the maximum number of antigens to which a child could be exposed by age 2 years was 315 in 2012, compared with several thousand in the late 1990s.” ,

MMR and autism

Extract from report of GACVS meeting of 16-17 December 2002, published in the WHO Weekly Epidemiological Record on 24 January 2003

Concerns about a possible link between vaccination with MMR and autism were raised in the late 1990s, following publication of studies claiming an association between natural and vaccine strains of measles virus and inflammatory bowel diseases, and separately, MMR vaccine, bowel disease and autism. WHO, on the recommendation of GACVS, commissioned a literature review by an independent researcher of the risk of autism associated with MMR vaccine; the outcome of the review was presented to GACVS for its consideration.

Autistic spectrum disorder represents a continuum of cognitive and neurobehavioral disorders including autism. The prevalence of autism varies considerably with case ascertainment, ranging from 0.7 – 21.1 per 10 000 children (median 5.2 per 10 000) while the prevalence of autistic spectrum disorder is estimated to be 1 - 6 per 1000. Eleven epidemiological studies (representing the most recent studies, mostly in the last 4 years) were reviewed in detail, taking into consideration study design (including ecologic, case control, case-crossover and cohort studies) and limitations. The review concluded that existing studies do not show evidence of an association between the risk of autism or autistic disorders and MMR vaccine. Three laboratory studies were also reviewed. It was concluded that the alleged persistence of measles vaccine virus in the gastrointestinal tract of children with autism and inflammatory bowel disease requires further investigation through independent studies before the laboratory findings of the published studies, which have serious limitations, can be considered confirmed.

Based on the extensive review presented, GACVS concluded that no evidence exists of a causal association between MMR vaccine and autism or autistic disorders. The Committee believes the matter is likely to be clarified by a better understanding of the causes of autism. GACVS also concluded that there is no evidence to support the routine use of monovalent measles, mumps and rubella vaccines over the combined vaccine, a strategy which would put children at increased risk of incomplete immunization. Thus, GACVS recommends that there should be no change in current vaccination practices with MMR.

Hmm. There's a lot more info, but I don't have access to all their data.
I do like the fact that they're independent and evidence-based and do not lobby for specific interests.
Should I come across a "friendly" public or private corporate client of theirs, I'll try to extract details, through them, if possible.

Anyway, I really don't like what I see. It's going to be a mess!
The pharmaceutical industry has an estimated 200 vaccines in
development for use in many population groups, not just children.
Is this the new safe & foolproof "investment" model for Big Pharma?
Guarranteed sales, less testing and NO LAWSUITS!
I'm not anti-vaccine. I'm anti-excessive vaccinations.
And I also don't understand why there has never been a single large clinical controlled study comparing the health outcomes of vaccinated to unvaccinated children.

– The Danger of Excessive Vaccination During Brain Development: Link to Autism
In 1976, children received 10 vaccines before attending school. Today they will receive over 36 injections. The American Academy of Pediatrics and the Center for Disease Control assured parents that it was safe to not only give these vaccines, but that they could be given at one time with complete safety. Is this true? Or are we being lied to on a grand scale?

-----Dr. Brownstein, M.D. – Human DNA From Fetal Cells in Measles Vaccine Could be Linked to Increase in Autism--------

The MMR vaccine (MMR ProQuad) contains aborted fetal lung tissue. This original fetus was aborted due to maternal psychiatric reasons in September, 1966. The MMR2 vaccine contains aborted fetal lung tissue of a 3-month old human female. These fetal cells are used because the human cells can be used to grow the measles virus. There is concern that the increase in autism that has occurred may be due to the introduction of human DNA–from fetal cells–in the MMR and chicken pox vaccines. A scientific review from Dr. Helen Ratajczak, a former scientist at a pharmaceutical firm, reviewed the body of published research since autism was first described in 1943. Dr. Ratajczak stated, “What I have published is highly concentrated on hypersensitivity. The body’s immune system is being thrown out of balance..” by the increasing number of vaccines given in a short period of time. She also felt that the introduction of human DNA contained in vaccines has markedly increased the risk of developing autism. Presently, human tissue is used in 23 vaccines. Dr. Ratajczak feels that the increased spike in autism may be related to the introduction of human DNA into the MMR and chicken pox vaccines.

Conference board of Canada isn't really a great source nor do you give all of their parameters.

Our country is getting stricter regarding vaccines and requirements for such due to recent outbreaks of diseases that haven't been around in a while.   I agree with that completely.

As a mother and a US citizen. I am happy we have the vaccines we do today to help keep our kids safe.

Hmm, not sure about  the "most knowledge for diagnosing".

U.S.A. just got a "D" in the Global Health Report Card, ranking
below Switzerland, Sweden, Australia, Norway, France, Japan, Netherlands, Canada, Germany,  Finland, United Kingdom, Austria, Ireland & Belgium.

The higher  spending in the U.S. does not necessarily correlate with better health outcomes nor for that matter, better diagnosis outcomes.
But this is only my opinion.

Here are some rankings of western (mostly) nations.

‘A’ — Switzerland, Sweden

‘B’ — Australia, Norway, France, Japan, Netherlands, Canada, Germany

‘C’ — Finland, United Kingdom, Austria, Ireland, Belgium

‘D’ — Denmark, United States

Highest autism rate or the most knowledge for diagnosing?

Ha, we are funny how we keep coming back to disagree.  Perhaps we should just agree to disagree.

They simply can not find valid evidence to support your claims.  Sure, there are piece of this or that----  but some have based their entire professional career on trying to prove your point and have not been able to do so.

so, we've probably covered our stance very well at this point.  Not 'trying' to disagree with you but as someone that sought legitimate answers myself . . .    it never came up to be vaccines.

---- U.S.A has the highest autism rates in the world! ---

"The United States has the highest number of mandated vaccines for children under 5 in the world . What’s going on?"
(36, double the Western world average of 18), the highest autism rate in the world! (1 in 110 children- this study was conducted in 2009-, 10 times or more the rate of some other Western countries), but only places 34th ** in the world for its children under 5 mortality rate."

*Do we have too much of a good thing? Because the vaccination schedule has been built up so quickly, it is difficult to analyze its impact on any one child. Therefore, studying unvaccinated children may be our best hope for finding the cause of a disorder estimated to impact 1 in 110 children.
(The numbers have risen since the time of this report)
In the meantime, parents may want to consider the vaccination schedules of some European countries that have significantly lower rates of autism, child mortality, and mandated vaccines.

**UNDER 5 MORTALITY is a measure of country-specific child mortality rates before the age of 5.
The United Nations tabulates the data for all countries. The rates were expressed per 1,000 children born. TheUnited States is 34th (worse) in the world for under 5 mortality, tied with Greece and behind such diverse countries as France, Germany, Japan, Singapore, Cuba, and Slovenia, to name a few.  Vaccine schedules (where obtainable) and under 5 mortality rates were compared for the 30 countries studied.
Note that all 29 other countries in the study have lower (better) under 5 mortality rates than the U.S.

Anyone interested to read the entire report (pdf), just let me know.

Cheers.

The state of California is now turning the tide----  tightening the reigns of vaccination.  Previously, that state in particular had many pockets that did require parents to vaccinate . . .   as now it is the state with the highest number of children with measles---------  they are shutting that down.  The stance?  the benefits FAR outweigh any risks.

Vaccinate your children. There is not a connection to autism no matter how hard people try to make one.  good luck

Measles vaccine
Natural immunity to measles—derived from contracting the disease—is permanent and is transferred from mothers to babies in utero through the placenta. Babies born to mothers who have had the disease are protected from the infection during their first year of life by the presence of a high concentration of natural antibodies circulating in their blood. Measles vaccination, on the other hand, induces lower antibody titers than does natural infection. Neutralizing measles antibodies passed by vaccinated women to their newborns disappear rapidly, leaving the babies susceptible to the infection in their first year of life, when they are more at risk of complications.

Problems with vaccine testing. In a response to information provided by the World Health Organization, author and lecturer Trevor Gunn has identified shortcomings in the testing of vaccines and the rationale for mass immunization, particularly with regards to measles. One problem is that vaccine studies use seroconversion, or antibody presence in the bloodstream, to indicate effectiveness.
When UK health authorities say that the measles vaccine is 90% effective, they do not mean that it reduces the incidence, severity, or death rate of the disease by 90%, but rather that 90% of recipients produce a certain level of antibodies to the viral agents.
However, the level of serum antibodies does not correlate with the body's ability to fight illness. People with low antibody levels may demonstrate immunity, while people with higher antibody levels may have no immunity.

Measle vaccine failure.
The following article below  confirms a high percentage of measles among  already vaccinated subjects:
Gustafson TL, et al., Measles outbreak in a fully immunized secondary-school population. NEJM 1987; 316(13):771-4.

Is the recent so-called measles "outbreak" ,  used again as propaganda in order to strengthen the vaccine manufacturers' and vaccine proponents' position, caused mainly because of the vaccine failure?
The public does not know whether the ones affected were vaccinated or not, but ASSUMES they were NOT vaccinated!

More to come another time.

Cheers!

-The good of vaccines far outweighs any risk that hasn't been proven.-

That's exactly how I see it. There is also a thought in the autism community that autism is a personality type, not necessarily a disorder. It's a complicated disorder that I wish we knew more about.

This is a subject that many have been wanted so desperately to prove.  For whatever reason, people want to believe they can control autism.  It helps with their anxiety, I guess.  But in reality, there is no known cause of autism, there has never been any scientific link made to vaccinations.  I would agree that perhaps certain factors have to be in play for autism to show itself---  perhaps.  That is a guess as that is not proven either.

The good of vaccines far outweighs any risk that hasn't been proven.

Excerpt -from Merck & Co Ltd, manufacturer of MMR vaccine-
from the Original MMR Vaccine Drug Insert

Available to Doctors administering the vaccine, inside the Physician's Desk Reference, but never to parents or patients!

"The following afflictions affecting nearly every body system -- blood, lymphatic, digestive, cardiovascular, immune, nervous, respiratory, and sensory -- have been reported following receipt of the MMR shot: encephalitis, encephalopathy, neurological disorders, seizure disorders, convulsions, learning disabilities, subacute sclerosing panencephalitis (SSPE) demyelination of the nerve sheaths, Guillain-Barré syndrome (paralysis), muscle incoordination, deafness, panniculitis, vasculitis, optic neuritis (including partial or total blindness) retinitis, otitis media, bronchial spasms, fever, headache, joint pain, arthritis (acute and chronic) transverse myelitis, thrombocytopenia (blood clotting disorders and spontaneous bleeding) anaphylaxis (severe allergic reactions) lymphadenopathy, leukocytosis, pneumonitis, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, erythema multiforme, urticaria, pancreatitis, parotitis, inflammatory bowel disease, Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, meningitis, diabetes, AUTISM, immune system disorders, and death"

The second version of the MMR vaccine, Merck censored autism from the
drug insert.

The Government has given legal immunity to ALL vaccine manufacturers,
so they can never be sued!

Measles deaths had declined 99.5% before measle vaccinations were implemented!!!

You can draw your own conclusions!

I have a child with autism and I absolutely think there is NO connection between autism and vaccines. There is scientific proof of this. The truth is we do not know what causes autism (yet). I really believe that autism isn't so bad compared to what vaccines protect against. By no means would I like to contribute to a measles epidemic out of fear of autism.

I know people who feel strongly about vaccines both ways. I don't think it should be something that should divide us, but as a parent of an autistic child I feel confident in my ability to make an educated decision about them. I've learned about things I never thought I would ever take the time to research.

My son is doing really fantastic as we found therapy to do wonders.  I'm very thankful for that.  My husband and I threw ourselves into it.

I'm not sure what I'm to remain open minded about.  I researched, studied, searched and never found vaccines to be involved with autism.

but agreed with you that perhaps they do something to the system.  I don't think a child becomes autistic because of vaccines but it may make symptoms more pronounced.  That I don't know.  But they have found it to be a myth that vaccines cause autism.

Mercury isn't in vaccines anymore.  You'd fine more in a can of tuna than in a vaccine these days.

Anyway, there are so many that wanted desperately to make this connection and it has never been made.

Happy Holidays to you as well.  peace

Do yourself and your child a huge favor and download "pathways to recovery".
There's science and there's science. When it comes to the "Establishment",you and your son are just another case file, another statistic.

Funny thing today, at someone's house Dr Oz was on and I overheard him and another expert talking about mercury and autism, as I was talking to someone at the same time.I'll have to check it later.

Happy Holidays!

By the way, I have a child that I've extensively looked for answers as to why they have the issues they have.  I'm not immune to the desire of wanting to find an answer but vaccines is a dead end.  good luck

And I agree, there are probably many factors that actually contribute.  While vaccines do not cause autism, they perhaps help set off what is already there.  That I can't rule out although science hasn't shown it to date.

The Mark Twain quote applies to the pro and the anti-vaccine supporters.
Vaccines are a co-factor. Do not buy into single cause concepts for inclusion or exclusion. Most studies for the pro side are based on this.
In gene mutation -the vast majority of autistic people have gene mutations-
vaccines are contributing factors along with viral load, metal toxicity-the latter 2 could be also affected by vaccines- and other environmental factors.
Look into the amazing work of Dr. Amy Yasko who has helped 1000s of autistic children (not a typo). You can download her book " Pathways to recovery" for a thorough scientific explanation. It's a free download.

I have read lots of scientific papers indicating that, and I would not rule it out. The powers to be will do everything to deny it. If I were in you place, I would take the safe approach. I noticed a huge difference in my son's behavior, as the vaccines doses piled up, although he is autistic.
I would recommend the reading of a book by Dr. David Williams, Fat Belly, in case you have not read it yet. Also watch his videos on YouTube.

--A case series of children with apparent mercury toxic encephalopathies manifesting with clinical symptoms of regressive autistic disorders--
Abstract
Impairments in social relatedness and communication, repetitive behaviors, and stereotypic abnormal movement patterns characterize autism spectrum disorders (ASDs). It is clear that while genetic factors are important to the pathogenesis of ASDs, mercury exposure can induce immune, sensory, neurological, motor, and behavioral dysfunctions similar to traits defining or associated with ASDs. The Institutional Review Board of the Institute for Chronic Illnesses (Office for Human Research Protections, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, IRB number IRB00005375) approved the present study. A case series of nine patients who presented to the Genetic Centers of America for a genetic/developmental evaluation are discussed. Eight of nine patients (one patient was found to have an ASD due to Rett's syndrome) (a) had regressive ASDs; (b) had elevated levels of androgens; (c) excreted significant amounts of mercury post chelation challenge; (d) had biochemical evidence of decreased function in their glutathione pathways; (e) had no known significant mercury exposure except from Thimerosal-containing vaccines/Rho(D)-immune globulin preparations; and (f) had alternate causes for their regressive ASDs ruled out. There was a significant dose-response relationship between the severity of the regressive ASDs observed and the total mercury dose children received from Thimerosal-containing vaccines/Rho (D)-immune globulin preparations. Based upon differential diagnoses, 8 of 9 patients examined were exposed to significant mercury from Thimerosal-containing biologic/vaccine preparations during their fetal/infant developmental periods, and subsequently, between 12 and 24 mo of age, these previously normally developing children suffered mercury toxic encephalopathies that manifested with clinical symptoms consistent with regressive ASDs. Evidence for mercury intoxication should be considered in the differential diagnosis as contributing to some regressive ASDs.
