ANA positive, questions!!

Hi, I'm a 18 year old female. I recently went in for a blood test due to fatigue and aching in my arms and legs. I have a huge family history of autoimmune disease. My ANA came back positive at a titer of 1:160. By the articles I've read online I know there is a possibility that further tests will come back negative but I think that is unlikely. My tests also showed a slightly elevated amount of protein in my urine and I was wondering if that could relate to excess number of antibodies in my system. I was also wondering if anyone could provide me with more info on what's going on with me.

Your symptoms sound a lot like mine. I have Lupus. Mine is not severe though. Just a lot of sleeping and muscle aches. I was put on a medication called Plaquenil which has actually helped a lot of my symptoms. Lots of sleep and exercise has helped me with the muscle pains more than anything. My Rheumatologist said the fatigue is just part of living with lupus :)

The ANA coming back positive just means you have some kind of antibody produced in your blood. You will have to have more tests done. When mine came back positive I have a more extensive test done which showed I was producing anti-RNA. Could be a number of different antibodies.

The homogenous pattern is associated with systemic lupus erythematosus and mixed connective tissue disease. The speckled pattern is associated with systemic lupus erythematosus, sjogren syndrome, scleroderma, polymyositis, rheumatoid arthritis, and mixed connective tissue disease.

Also, the pattern was speckled and homogeneous if that means anything.
