This is really interesting. I just came across this post by accident. I had taken Benadryl nightly for many years to get me through the night. I stopped taking it several months ago because of the link to Alzheimer's disease. Interestingly, at age 62, I'm experiencing symptoms of MS and am in the testing process. Now I wonder if there was a connection?
Thank you for posting this information Astrodave.
I recently figured out that my chronic fatigue symptoms fit very well with the symptomatology of mitochondrial dysfunction.
It was by accident that I linked taking the antihistamine Acrivastine with a very significant improvement in energy levels.
Great job.
Look into giving your son a low dose of antihistamines during the day. The micro dose affects the body differently. Good luck
Dear Astrodave,
How many times a day does your wife take the 5ml. dose and is it preferable before or after food.
Wow, thanks for sharing, as I've been using benadryl as a sleep aid. I just posted that I was questioning myself about it due to something my counselor mentioned. But now that I read your message, I will think about it some more. It helps, sometimes a lot. And doesn' t have the hangover effect of stronger drugs. Good luck, all blessings to you.
When I discontinued my long-term use of Benadry as a sleep aid, my MS went haywire. Wondered why. I'll resume the above recommended use and let you all know what happens.
My son who has Autoimmune Pancreatitis takes 2 tsps of Atarax ( histamine) daily. The only thing i have noticed this med does is help with his insomnia. It doesn't seem to affect his pain tolerance at all. the way i feel though is try anything to see if it brings relief, while it hasn't been beneficial to his pain, it has been towards his sleep cycle. he has gone from sleeping 2-3 hrs nightly to finally sleeping for 6-8 hrs. The only advice i can give is keep searching...til you get a answer that fits! Took us 20 months and alot of doctors til i finally got one who " Listened" and " Looked at all the logs" i had started keeping of him and everything about his day to day life. I would also advise you to keep a log...List any pain, symptoms, what you eat, regular temp checks.....anything and everything you feel might be helpful in diagnosis whatever might be ailing you!! Good luck!
Hi I have some kind of autoimmune disease that the doctors can't diagnose.I take antihistamine for hay fever and found it alleviated my symptoms.I found this helpful, so will mention it to my doctor to see if it may help in my diagnosis.can allergies create the same symptoms as an autoimmune disease?
Be aware if you have autoimmune hypothyroid this treatment may (should) increase thyroid function. talk to your doctor.
