High ASO titer for 2 years

11 yr. old son has had (what 3 doctors) have diagnosed as Erythema Nodosum, but without the change in color (no redness -- rarely a faint pink on the thigh nodules) for the past two years.  Three positive strep throat cultures from 1/2006 to 2/2007.  No positive strep test since 2/2007.  His ASO titer has been between 800 and 1010 range for the last 2 years (last week's 1000).  He has taken a multitude of oral antibiotics --Amoxil 875 Mg 2x day for 14 days, to straight penicillin, Rifampin 300 Mg 2x day for 10 days, Clindamycin.  Nothing seems to rid him of these nodules or lower his ASO titer.   Overall crummy feeling most of the time.  Headaches, leg aches, joint aches, back ache, neck ache.  I am now being told he may have an autoimmune disorder.  Any suggestions?

It may be worth having your son test for celiac- TTG (tissuetransglutaminase) and total IgA and possibly EMA (endomysial antibody).  it is an autoimmune disorder which is treated with strict diet.  The symptoms vary greatly from one person to the next.  Symptoms which MAY be related: headaches, joint/back/neck ache, overall feeling crummy and the nodules.  Also the fact that the multiple antibiotics didn't help.
