Keep getting herpes break outs

I have Hashimotos, and was diagnosed in February, but suspect I may have another auto immune disease as well.  I got Genital Herpes 30 years ago from my husband when we were dating.  I never had another outbreak after the initial first one.  Now since the first of the year, I have had 3 out breaks and I fear I'm breaking out again for the 4th time.  I take zovorax and it goes away for a very short time, but it keeps coming back.  Suspect it is because my immune system is weak. I'm afraid to keep taking zovorax all the time for fear my body would get immune to it and then the zovorax would not work anymore.  What should I do?  I'm very scared because I'm very sick and don't know what to do about this.  Do I take just one zovorax everyday and hope it will keep the outbreaks froms coming?  Has anyone had this problem here?

Stress, all by itself, will bring on an outbreak.  Have you been under more stress this year than any other year?
Having a lowered immune system will also bring on the "pox".  I have had only 3 outbreaks in 15 years...Thank God...but I do get cold sores often, another form of herpes, because of stress.
If you are sexually active, be sure you are well lubricated with a water soluable aid from the pharmacy (K-Y or similar). Be sure to check expiration dates!!!!! If condems are being used...avoid LATEX.
Continue any regiment of meds for herepes...but if you feel you need a different kind, consult with your OB/GYN. There is another product out there for daily use...I just can't remember its name...sorry.
Best wishes and less outbreaks to you!

You are so welcome.  Its not a very comfortable illness...well no illness is...but herpes is super uncomfortable.
Did you know getting or giving oral sex if one has a cold sore will cause herpes too? many people are shocked at that fact...but its true...I am proof of that  :(
Wear dresses and cotton undies as often as you can...or no undies at all.  Allow air to circulate.
I have used betadine solution on a cotton ball to help relieve itching. I also used some OraJel...this is not really recommended...I just had nothing else to stop the burning..applied a little to the chancres...it helped me tremendously! Also sped up the drying time. Hmmm
Ask your doc what he/she thinks of using OraJel  ( active ingrediant is 20% benzocaine)
Best wishes to ya!!!

Yes, I have been under stress because I have been sick for almost 2 years now.  Didn't have a diagnosis either until February.  Also have lowered immune system, so I have both things going against me.  I will ask my doctor about the one for daily use.  Thanks for answering and for your info
