white patches

Hi , Ive had a few white hairs in my eyebrow siince september/octtober last yr with a sorta light patch above it which hasnt changed shape . Recently , ive had 4 small white patches appear on the same side of the face where the beard grows and they are dissappearing aswell? Could this be vitiligo ?From what ive read the patches take time to appear or to disappear so i'm sure?

Yes, I have patches of vitaligo. It is an autoimmune skin issue that often follows another autoimmune disorder of greater concern. Hair in these areas can turn beyond gray - white to transparent almost.  It will not follow a pattern, can show up anywhere. Little can be done, there is some skin topical that is used for other skin issues like porisis that has had some positive effects on vitaligo. It didnt work for me. Now I shave everyday.

The only way to be sure is to see a dermatologist. I personally have vitiligo and I can tell you, the hair will turn gray in areas covered by vitiligo because of the lack of melanin.
