Respecte Doctor isn't U1-RNP of bigger significance for MCTD?
My U1-RNP is >0.2
Can the raising RNP cause a higher titre of U1-RNP? Which of these two antibodies is the "mother"?
Hi!
Positive SS-A (Ro) (a value equal to or above 1.0 U) is indicative of Sjogren’s syndrome (SS), lupus, SS/SLE (lupus) overlap syndrome, primary biliary cirrhosis and subacute cutaneous LE (SCLE). Similarly, SS-B (or anti-La) more than 1.0 U is also considered positive. In, your case, both are negative. So, these conditions are ruled out. Also, Sm and dsDNA antibodies are normal. Only RNP is high and persisting. Any value above 1.0IU is considered positive. However, if you really have a connective tissue disease like theones mentioned above or a MCTD, then the RNP will be much higher. Since, RNP is on the higher side or detectable, chances of MCTD developing in future is always there as you seem to be having a rising titre. However, nothing can be said for sure. Hope this helps. Take care!
