Hello,

I want to thank you in advance for looking at my question.  I guess I shoiuld start with my symptoms:

This all happened acutely came on quickly and has been eolving in the courser of a week:

Right sided weakness and numbness (including face, arm, leg)
Numbness progressed to the left side briefly while outside in the heat
Diffuculity speaking (studdering, cant find the words)
Brief moments of confusion
Could not stand with my eyes closed and arms out without stumbling (neuro test)
dragging my right foot with a slight limp

I was admitted in the hospital with the thought of a stroke which was ruled out by the neurologist
I had an mri and the report is as follows:

Technique:  MRI Images of the brain obtained without contrast utilizing multiple pulse sequences with multiplanner projection (also was an open mri)

Findings:
Diffusion sequences are within normal limits.  No midline shift is demonstrated.  No sulci effacement or extra-Axial fluid collection or hemorrage demonstrated.  Several tiny bright signals are present within the right basil ganglia felt to represent perivascular spaces.  There are no other T2 bright signals demonstrated.  brainstem and posterior fossa are within normal limits.  Grey/White differentation is well maintained.  Basilar cisterns are intact.  Cervicomedullary junction is within normal limits.  Flow voids to the intercranial vessels are within normal limits.  Mastoid air cells are well pneumatized.  The nasal turbinates are mildly congested.  Mild ethmoid membrane thickening is seen.  There is a 1.1 cm round bright signal seen along the left parasagittal portion of the posterior lobe.  This is dark on T1 and flair pulse sequence and likely represents an extra-axial arachnoid cyst.

I dont go back to the doctor for 2 weeks and im obviously concerned.  I am not getting any better.  Any help would be greatly apprecaited.

Hi .
You have had your MRI scan which im not familiar with reading, But i do know that for MS they do a lumbar puncture alongside an MRI scan to check for the O- Bands, in the cerebal spinal fluid.
Because i have heard of people with having MS, having a normal MRI, but having the O-Bands in the cerebal spinal fluid.

Also vasculitis , can be similar to MS, and cause all the same symptoms, so check into this as well.

Maybe youre neurologist will do the lumbar puncture, for a definate diagnosis.
Keep me posted
Nicola
