Rheumatoid Arthritis with positive Anti-CCP?

Hi everyone,

I'm a 48 year-old, healthy female. Stared having joint pain about six months ago. Dr diagnosed me with multiple tendinitis/ tenosynovitis (elbow, shoulder, hip, hands, feet).

Test results:

ESR & CRP, normal
Anti-CCP: positive, 25 (positive range: >7)
ANA: negative
HLA b27: positive

Any thoughts on these result? Does no real joint involvement exclude RA as a diagnosis?

/M

The positive anti-CCP is highly indicative of RA, due to its high specificity and more predictive of RA that Rheumatoid Factor (RF).
The HLA - B27 is  a gene associated with some autoimmune diseases , however, there are over 100
sub-types, some associated with Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, psoriasis, reactive arthritis, and uveitis
and some others which are actually protective!
The above sub-types are generally identified by an extra two digits at the end of the main "Haplotype" HLA-B27

In light of your aforementioned positive results,if you're a person like myself who likes to get to the bottom of things, I suggest you look deep into the connection between :

a. Positive for HLA-B27
b. Proteus bacteria *
c. Development of Rheumatoid Arthritis
d. Carbohydrate -specially starch- intake

Proteus bacteria contain molecules which resemble HLA-B27.
According to the theory of  “molecular mimicry”, this allows for cross-reactivity, where your immune system produces antibodies against the Proteus bacteria in order to remove them from the blood, however, in the process the antibodies also bind to the HLA-B27, causing auto-immunity.
The preferred diet of Proteus bacteria seem to be mainly starches.
A low carb and starch-free diet would be in order, as a trial, in lieu of further complicated, lengthy and costly
testing.
Please let me know, if you need any further details.

Best wishes,
Niko
