Got a CBC count, Everything seems perfect just a bit low RBC and high WBC 15000. doc's treating for staph with flagyl 400. I've read somewhere tht these medicines don't work to treat staph! I m confident on my doc but just that a month is too long. and these tablets seems to increase my boils and the 1st day gave me bad chest pain. My boils are very tiny but many. now getting blackheads on my chest and thighs and got a hair on my chin(female) which was nvr there earlier! but my fever is not high!! i feel week!! i shiver at times (not coz of cold)!! my doc says till the time i don't have high fever, i m not really too infected!! however, I can feel it in me tht its increasing and boils are also spreading. again boils are too small!! a month fr me is too long!! can anyone plz help me!! will this infection be increasing and decreasing for more months?!! looking at me no one can say i m sick but i feel pathetically sick from within!! plz can someone suggest is this normal or m i just panicking!!

Hi, Its been 2 and a half month i m still suffering from staph!!! My recent CBC showed an increase in hemoglobin, mcv, mch , mchc and WBC beyond the normal range.. However, my erthrocyte is 4.21 (4.2-5.1) and haematocrit are normal range- these 2 are only in the normal range in my blood report!! I m not able to get an answer from my doctor too!! she says its fine!! I m having 3 to 4 hairs from one follicle on my body!! she says its folliculitis infection! she gave me Ciprofloxacin tablets but still it is not really working tht well in long run! its 2 week with Ciprofloxacin but no results!!

Is it normal for a sudden increase in my blood report?
Can I take clindamycin 300mg over d counter?
does folliculitis cause high WBC?

Thankyou so much in advance!! I m starting to get worried now!! just hv a feeling tht if i don't treat it now I'll be in trouble latter on! thanks a ton!!

Hi!!
Thank you so much for your response!! Really appreciated it !!! Sorry I forgot to mention tht these boils do not have a pus!! its plain small tiny boils which turns dark brown and subsides on its own!! it started d every next day whn i mistakenly bit my side cheeks and it bled! Recently my partner got a bad big puss filled boil & i askd him I could be a reason to infect & he was like naaahhh I get these multiple times plus stye too & it goes away aft sm time by its own!! NOW I knw how I got this infection & y he seems too casual abt my boils!! Medicines are wrking gud so far now and yes diet and anti-septic lotion & gel working well too here!! boils are not clustered together! its still spreading but without any low grade fever & fatigue! but other major part of boils are just vanishing!! And major thing here is that my few hair follicle seems to die-off ! just like whn u burn a hair it becomes wired same way :) !! and hair are not growing there!! I guess the black-head may not be associated & may b m noticing to much!! I guess it may be Staph in my hair follicle or something!! Surely its not that severe but Clindamycin sounds gud & will ask my doc fr a prescription if i need them!! Better to take precaution than Cure!! Thank-you so much for ur time once again!! thankz have a nice day!!

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi!
You are probably talking about Hidradenitis suppurativa, which presents as recurrent boil-like pus-like discharge abscesses resulting in difficult-to-heal open wounds and scarring. It commonly occurs on apocrine sweat gland-bearing skin such as in the groin, the underarms and under the breasts. It is also known as ‘acne inversa’. The disease can spread to genitals. It can also be due to staphylococcal skin infections. Wash skin with antiseptic lotions daily to decrease bacteria. Treatment is by topical antibiotics and steroids. Local antibiotics of erythromycin and Clindamycin group also help. Retenoid group of drugs also help. Wear loose fitting clothes. Get your diabetes status checked as high blood sugar can also cause recurrent boils. Consult a skin specialist. Take care!
