ana positve with nucleolar pattern

I just recently had lab work done to recheck my thyroid and let the dr. know that I am fatigued all the time no matter how much sleep I get.  With this being a new dr they did an exam on my thyroid and found it to be enlarged... when I received a phone call I was told I was going for an ultrasound on my thyroid and being referred to a Rheumatologyst.  When I received my labs in the mail... My cholesterol is elevated, thyroid seems okay (i was put on meds a year ago was 5.02 dropped to 1.20 once on 50 mg of Synthroid), Sed rate by modified westergren is 25H, rdw 15.4 H, ana screen positive, ana pattern is nucleolar, ana titer is 1:160 H, and I have a low Vitamin D count.  Also, while my B12 is in normal range is is on the low end at 255.   Once I get my referral to the Rheumatologyst is there any specific questions or requests that I need to make?  Thank you!  I am very nervous at this point.... I have seen the positibilites of lupus, hashymotos (sp?), scleroderma, etc...

Hi there,
I am very interested in your condition as my ANA results were exactly the same as yours...I have been through the ringer with different diagnosis' and specialists...I have had brain surgery for Arnold Chiari Malformation in 2010 and everything has gone down hill from there...I am now being told I have lupus by my gen phys but am being sent to a rheum hopefully soon...they did an ultrasound of my thyroid prior to surgery and there was also a nodule found but it was put on the back burner due to my decompression surgery and weeks spent in the ICU...your situation sounds very familiar...I have NO energy or motivation, I ache from head to toe, headaches, raynauds syndrome, and a whole laundry list of other symptoms... some days are better than others but I have no quality of life anymore. I have always been a very athletic, active, on the go person and now Im lucky to get laundry and dishes kept up with... I am on disability and have limited medicaid so I need to do my research and figure out where to go to hopefully get some answers and get my life back...

Thank you.  I had my ultrasound this week on my thyroid and a nodule was found so I have been referred to an ENT for a biopsy.   I am having one of those days where I just don't feel good.  I have a really bad headache, lack of energy, & feeling very nauseous.  I used to have days like this regularly before being put on thyroid medication.

Is scleroderma cureable??  treatable??  Is it Hereditary??   If so is it something my children's pediatrician should know about and test for??

Thanks again!

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi!
Nucleolar ANA staining pattern is mainly seen in scleroderma or in polymyositis *** scleroderma overlap syndrome. Scleroderma is a connective tissue disorder with muscle and joint pain and skin thickening and sores on finer tips. Other than this thyroid problems, diabetes, anemia, sleep disorders, and depression should be looked into.
Take care!
