Autoimmune disorders vs. dental implants

Hi, I've been suffering from thyroiditis (Hashinmoto's disease) for a few years now.
Last month I had a tooth extracted (in the front :( and my dentist is talking me into having a titanium implant but I'm scared of possible side effects.

My question is:
Have any of you had an autoimmune disease before having a dental implant placed? If yes, has it gotten worse?
Or maybe you fell from an autoimmune disease after having a dental implant placed?

Was it titanium or zirconium one?

I really don't know what to do hence any help will be very appreciated. Thank you.

Hi!
Yes, individuals with autoimmune disease should be more careful while going for dental implants. It is difficult to suggest which will suit you more. It may be a good idea to get an allergy test for both. Also, inform your dentist that you suffer from autoimmune disease. Today many dental implants are safe for use in individuals suffering from autoimmune disorders. Take care!

The medical advice given should not be considered a substitute for medical care provided by a doctor who can examine you. The advice may not be completely correct for you as the doctor cannot examine you and does not know your complete medical history. Hence this reply to your post should only be considered as a guiding line and you must consult your doctor at the earliest for your medical problem.
