Fatique

I am a 36 yr old female who has always been in good health until about 2 years ago....full-time mother or two (ages 8 & 10). full-time wife, full-time employee as well. Two weeks ago, I became completely worn out and literally stayed in bed for 3 days with body aches / pains and exhaustion. It has been about 10 days since and I am still running a low-grade fever up to 99.4...I know that doesn't sound very high, but "normal" for me is usually around 98.0-98.2. I still don't have any desire to eat or drink but make myself drink so I don't dehydrate. Each time I eat, I get a tummy ache but it doesn't make me get sick.

I've been "watched" for lupus (positive ANA), fibromyalgia, and RA. I think I've probably had every blood test created over the past two years. However, I haven't responded to any of the meds for fibromyalgia symptoms  (so I am not taking them anymore). I always wake up tired even after sleeping 9 hours & once I start moving around, my fever usually begins to go up & I get tired super fast. I seem to always have an ache or pain somewhere (elbows, knees, etc...always on right and left at the same time). I just don't know what to do next....I've seen 2 different MDs, a neurologist and 2 rheumatologists. But, I am so tired of being tired. Does this sound familiar to anyone? I am just out of solutions and don't know what directions to go next. I would appreciate any feedback!!!

It sounds like something is certainly going on. I've been undiagnosed for so many years too and it is so frustrating at times! I have been told though for many years that I should be on plaquinel to slow the disease progression. It also does help many people with their symptoms. Have the doctors mentioned this drug to you? It seems like there must be some medications they can try other than those for fibromyalgia as well?!

A postive ANA is a good sign that LUPUS is active, and with the symptoms you describe I am surprised that a rhuematologist has not said this to you.  But that is just my opinion, I have no medical training but my Lupus was diagnosed 16 years ago and the story you tell is exactly what was happening to me.  The only difference is that my legs were the main source of all my aches and pains, burning every night like a fire was lite under my bed to the point where my husband couldn't laydown next me without feeling the heat. I hope you find some answers soon.

Thanks for the feedback. I think I've had my thyroid tested, but it's been a while. I'm sure it was the most basic test possible though. I will ask to be retested & to check those antibodies too. I have not heard of Hashimoto's disease before...time to do some research. Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts!

Have you had your thyroid tested? You can get aches and pains with being hypo and often with hyper! Low grade fevers are common in early thyroid disease and I myself used to get them often before I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's disease. That is an autoimmune disease.
Get checked for full thyroid tests and ask for thyroid antibodies as well.
Cheers
