Is this M.S, A.S or something else being missed????

I hope you might be able to help me in the right direction. I live in the UK & feel very lost at the mo!!!!

4 yrs ago I was very poorly with flue/breathing problems, I was on 10 steriods a day for 2mths, shortly after I recovered I started experiencing extreme fatigue, right leg, hip, inner thighs & bottom back pain. Had blood tests with HLA-B27 coming back positive, was later ruled out as not having this as the more I did in the day the worse my legs /back/hip became, informed A.S has the opposite effect, you become better.

I experience very painful back muscle spasms, some spasms spreading to my chest/ribs, My balance has become unsteady going backwards/right, worse when tired, dropping things out of my right hand, head started to hurt with a pressure feeling & back of head being very sensative, eyes aching with floaters at times, itching around face neck, tip of tongue, lips & nose going numb. Right Leg (heavy/numb/tingling & weak) Now having electric shock pain down my back some mild to very sharp which can make me itch on that part, vibrations/shaking inside of body or my foot, inner thighs/hip going into spasms resulting walking like I have soiled myself, feel I have wet myself but I have not. Extreme fatigue now & then, more so now when I have a bath. Forgetting a lot of things more, experience burning sensation either face or leg & sometimes large spots on leg feel icey cold from inside but not to touch, had this experience also with my fingertips this summer just gone, lasting about 20mins felt like I was suffering with hot aches. Now & then my right knee slightly gives way.

Had MRI brain, Had Neuro exam for 20mins, said brain lession are because I smoke, I have brisk reflexes, my right leg is slightly numb, numbness in right fingers, says I have slight Carpel Tunnel. Said he does not think MS. Had blood work to rule out B12, Liver, Kidney, Vascular Disease & many more, all negative, had MRI base of spine/pelvic this was clear.

Unfortunately, steroids suppress the immune system, and if you have one or more chronic infections, this will allow their proliferation and penetration into other tissues.

Chronic infections like Mycoplasma species and Chlamydia pn., among other infections, can cause all of the signs/symptoms that you have listed. My suggestion would be testing for various chronic infections.  If positive, then this would give you a solid treatment approach to your problem.

Yes, there are, but unfortunately no one can tell you from your description which infection might be involved.

Thank-you so much for your answer, has been a real insight.

If I am right in reading what you have written, because I had a serious infection resulting in me having to take steriods, this weakened my immune system allowing the infection I had to go into my tissues, basically my immune system is maybe now attacking itself because of this orginal infection I suffered with.

Can I ask what Chronic Infections should I be tested for? as looking this up there are so many.

I thank-you so much for your time, am so grateful.
