As twicemom mentions Lyme Disease (and its numerous co-infections) could be involved here, along with other infections.  It is good to rule these in or out, because it makes a big difference in treatment decisions.

We have found that most patients with peripheral neuropathies have chronic neurotrophic viral or bacterial infections that could be the source of their problems.  In general, they have other symptoms as well, so the first step could be identifying other signs and symptoms that could be important.  That would help in eventually identifying such infections and treating them successfully.

You may want to read up on Lyme Disease.  If you are suspicious please see a specialist that will run your blood work through IGENEX lab for testing.  I had many doctors that told me I needed to be patient, they wanted to make me comfortable by prescribing meds for carpel tunnel, arthritus, insomnia, nerve pain, etc.  I finally asked is their a carpel tunnel foot syndrome & was told no, they didn't know why feet & legs seemed to be asleep and tingling and numb all the time.  My symptoms would come on quickly and then seemed to disappear and then come on quickly but with more intensity.  I was told that eventually it probably show up as MS in my brain MRI (which was normal) .  Please don't mess around with your nuero or primary care.  Find a specialist near you, I only had 3 names within a 100 mile radius of my home, but find one & please them.
