Good luck Jenn!! I did lots of research on the Trisomy 18 when they thought that my nephew might have it (I still get newsletters and stuff). I don't remember seeing anything about anyone ever having two children with it. So I'll be praying for you.
Dr's called back ...first appointment is Thursday @ 8:30. Preliminary stuff of course...piac & b/w. Ready to get this show on the road!!! LOL
Jenn, i'm glad to hear that your Dr. is on top of things. After what happened last time you should feel relieved to be monitored so closley. I know that going so often is a pain, but it's so worth it. I'm sure your little bean will be just perfect. ((HUGS))
He is looking for them to rise properly. Our baby had trisomy 18, referred to as Edwards Syndrome. It is a chromosomal defect that happens at the moment of conception. Apparently, while pregnant the mother tends to have low hcg levels as the pregnancy is usually not viable he said. Some of the defects can also be picked up on sonograms & then around 14-16 weeks I will get the AFP screen to check for genetic defects. My other option is an amnio but I do not want to go that route.
oh By the way Bridgette, Of course I don't mind you asking!!!! :)
That's so great that your boss is on board! That has to be a sigh of relief!
If you don't mind me asking, what did they find out about your angel baby? What is your dr looking for in the HCG numbers, other then them rising?
Bridgette, I was pleased with his approach. A little taken a back, I was expecting him to be more laid back. I'm not really good with needles but at this point I will do whatever it takes. I have waited to long to let a few pokes scare me off! Usually I would have gone in about once per month until the end of the preg. Every few weeks is going to be crazy!!! I told my boss today so she is already on board!!!
Jenn - that's good that your dr wants to be proactive! I hope the poking and prodding won't be too stressful on you.
I bought mine when i was like 6wks, so i know it was hard, but the weeks went by quickly. Im sure they will for you too!! It will give you time to shop around and get a good deal. They are too cute!!
Now just to pass the weeks until I can hear it!!! That is going to be the hard part! I am such an impatient person. He is worse than I am, he is like a kid in a candy store right now! TOO CUTE!
Jenn, i'm so happy I got one. My BF found it it last night, He likes to look for it. Its the coolest thing.
Thanks, I just found one online. Still early I know but I am telling DH that I 'really' want to get one. :)
It took me awhile to find it but i reminded myself its not easy to find and takes practice. So i didn't worry when i couldn't find it. I also waited till my dr heard it on the doppler at the office so i 'd know where to look.
I ordered mine on ebay, its the sonoline B 2mhz. they say 3mhz is better. takes a little practice, and yesterday was the first time i found it on my home doppler. they say anywhere between 10-12 wks. I paid $72 for it, but i think i've seen it cheaper....
Thank you!! Congrats on hearing your babies heartbeat! I was just talking to dh about getting a doppler to use at home, I am just worried we will get one that doesn't pick up as well & give ourselves some unneeded extra worry. I have been googling them. If you don't mind, which one did you get?
I think that is great that he is going to monitor your pregnancy more closely!! I hope this will also give you peace of mind and let you enjoy your pregnancy. congratulations again mama!!
