FISH OILS?

Okay, I have heard so many people talking about the fish oils, so I went out and bought some yesterday. I have not yet taken them as I was concerned whether or not they were safe to take in the TWW. I bought Sundown Naturals 1000mg. I have found at least 2 different sites that have done studies on 5 diff. fish oils (sundown being one of them) that states all five had "insignificant" levels of mercury. My questions are: Does anyone know of any reason I should NOT take fish oil (or this specific brand) and what doses should I take? The bottle said 3 a day with meals, but should I take the full amount? Also, can I take two at once? (I was going to start them this morning, but wanted to get some feed back 1st, I would really like to start them today if possible). THANK you so much!!! SSBD to all who want it!!

Not silly, some ppl say its can prevent miscarriage, don't think there's really any definate in that though. But fish oils are good for you as they contain DHA - which can help baby's brain and omega-3, which are also good for baby...it's like a safe way to get the nutrients in fish...but just be carefull, not all fish oils are safe, if you're interested, you can ask around and see what kind are, or google it like I did lol!!

if u'd like to take OMG3 supplement, make sure it is designed for PREGNANT WOMEN only..

I take Nordic Natural DHA supplement because I've found them on American pregnancy assosication web site.also on the bottle it says " this product is the officialy dha supplement of the APA....I take two capsule in total of 600 mg....

I've recently read Dr. OZ book called YOU:Having a baby..it's a great book..He also suggests there that DHA supplements are great for so many reasons...

Thank you so much!! Think those are just local, never seen one lol!! Thanks, the only thing I'm worried about are the baby aspirin with the fish oil since they both thin the blood. Most of my reaserch says that you should not really mix the two together, but I found a prenatal yesterday that has DHA and Omega-3 in it, which is what the fish oil has, and the Pharmacist said it should be fine to take the two together since its only once a day.

I just got a prescription from my doctor Monday for prenatal pills with fish oil.  Apparently Schnucks and Dierbergs grocery stores are giving these away for FREE!

If you ask your doctor I'm sure he can prescribe them for you.  Apparently the brand varies so call your local schnucks or dierbergs if you have one (not sure if these are just local stores or not) and ask which brand they are giving away.

My OB told me 300mg-  that seems to be the amount that's in a few prenatal combo packs I've seen (that include the prenatal and the fish oil capsule)

DHA comes from a source that is known as being pretty clean and doesn't give you the anti-coagulant problems (thining of the blood) that sometimes you run into with fish oil, so I think DHA omega 3s are okay to take with a baby aspirin unlike regular fish oils.  You can find is at any drug store next to the over the counter prenatal vitamins.  I actually ordered mine from drugstore.com.  Plus DHA is great for the baby once you are pregnant!!

Btw, I am taking baby aspirin, which I just read was really bad to take with fish oil (glad I didn't take it yet) so is this DHA safe to take with b/a?

I have read both that they are good and that they are bad, so I asked my doctor and he told me to take Expecta DHA.  It has the same if not better benefits and it comes from a plant and not from fish so there is not any mercury or anything bad in it.  I never really got a straight answer on the fish oil from him as to why or if it really was bad, so I stopped taking it just in case it was bad; however, DH takes it now as it is beneficial to him!
