How to know if you are pregnant?
Hello Ladies..Love the new space!! I don't post questions very often but I have a question... Last time I was pregnant I never missed a "period" (I know you don't have periods, but I had what I would have swore'n was the same). Now I am trying to figure out how will I know if I am pregnant if I have bleeding like a period. I never would have known I was pregnant if I wouldn't have started spotting last time..and even then, I didn't think pregnancy...My best friend suggested I take a test and it was positive. Other then being moody I really had no other symptom.
So without buying stock in pregnancy test how will I know?

That bleeding doesn't mean somethings wrong..it happens alot in early pregnancy blah blah blah.. Nothing that really answers my questions...I looked in to progesterone issues but haven't been tested, they don't want to do test if its your first mc..but I plan on having them check those levels with the 1st blood test next time. But I guess I will have to wait..and see what happens.
Is it something you have discussed with your dr? Honestly I really don't know anything about bleeding during a pg, but could it be a progesterone issue or even blood clotting? I think it is worth pursuing so as not to suffer another m/c.
The only thing I know is that "they" say that brown blood is ok, as it is "old" blood, but that is the extent of my knowledge.

I guess it just boggles my mind on how I can have a "period" and a baby can stay put..Last pregnancy I had a "period" on the 21st of April and had HCG 180 on the 2nd of May and then miscarried on the 6th? Who knows..I hope I have no bleeding next time cause I will already be a nervous wreck, I'm sure.
I can see how you would be confused! I don't know what the bleeding/spotting would be about, but like Lori said even if you had it one pg, it doesn't mean you will have it in another.
This is just a guess on my part, but I still think you would get a + HPT even if you were bleeding while pg, because HPT is based on your HCG level and if the egg has implanted then you would be generating HCG. For instance, EricaB28 got her BFP, but then she started spotting, but her HCG came back from the dr really high! So the spotting did not effect the HCG. But again, this is just guesswork on my part.
This might not be a bad question to ring up your dr (or more likely thier nurse) and ask.
I know that temping really does "force" you to think about TTC daily which is why lots of women prefer not to do it. So if that's not the route for you that is SO understandable!! Then you're back to relying on HPT's.

Yeah, I have considered trying temp'n but it seems like when I focus on TTC everyday I get consumed by it... so i'm trying to just let it happen the way god intended..But after this cycle I had some cramping which is unusual for me and then I got paraniod and then thought a period doesn't really mean much considering I had one last time...also If you have period like bleeding at the time of your period would a test still be positive?? The more I think about it the more confused I get.
You can also get HPT's at the dollar store/dollar general. A great way for us POAS'aholics to save money :)
However, I do think if you charted your BBT that would be able to let you know if you needed to test. If your temps were to stay above the coverline at 18DPO it's almost 99% you are pg.

Yes my Cycle is very regular every 27 or 28 days. I have never missed it..Even after the mc it came 27 days days later. Well I talked to my find who works in an GYN office and he said he can get me some HPT's for FREE =) gotta love that..at least I don't have to spend money to have my feelings hurt by a BFN.
That's a hard one! When I was pregnant with my first I also had my "period" and the thought of pregnancy never crossed my mind, but it crossed everyone else's due to the fact that all I wanted to do was sleep! So to prove them all wrong because I knew my body I tested...Surprise! I was not only pg but I was in my 4th month! Now with my other pregnancies af never showed so then I would test. Is your cycle pretty regular?? Do you temp?? Unfortunately I think the only way your going to know is to test.
