Grapefruit Juice and Cervical Mucus

This is some of the information that I have found:

Drinking grapefruit juice while trying to conceive has long been recommended by mothers, doctors, and midwives to aide in the fertilization process. The grapefruit juice is said to help thin the cervical mucus so that the sperm can travel easily from the vagina, through the uterus and into the fallopian tubes to meet the egg. The egg white consistency cervical mucus is known to be the most fertile in every woman, but not every woman can product this type of cervical mucus on her own, and so many generations have turned to grapefruit juice.

Of course, like many home remedies there are varying rates of success with this cervical mucus remedy. Some women report that they see an instant improvement while others report minimal improvement and others still see no change. Its important to remember that every womans body responds to every drug, chemical, and naturally occurring substance differently so there is no way to determine if this remedy will work for you. But, if you are in search of a natural remedy to improve the texture of your cervical mucus grapefruit juice certainly is worth a try.

While there may be no medical evidence to connect grapefruit juice or any of its properties with a thinning of the cervical mucus, women for generations will swear on the remedy. Because of this, it is definitely worth a try. You may have to drink the juice regularly for a couple cycles before you see a change, so hopefully you like grapefruit juice. If you want to increase your chances of success with this remedy you may want to combine your juice with Evening Primrose oil or even Robitussin, which are also known to thin the cervical mucus and create a more fertile environment for the sperm and ultimately fertilization.

Even if it is not the grapefruit juice that works its magic on your cervical mucus, this remedy will help because it will increase your fluid intake. If you have very dry or spongy cervical fluid you need to increase your fluids and grapefruit juice certainly will count! So, whether this generations old home remedy really does work or not is not really up for debate because it does work at least by putting more fluids into your body, and that is important. If you see increased results, than that is even better. Remember that there are many natural remedies that you can try and even combine for proven results. Generations of women and doctors cannot be wrong, so dont hesitate to try this remedy and see what happens. Even if it does not prove to be useful for you, you wont be any worse off than you are now.

Grapefruit Juice
Like cough medicine, grapefruit juice is thought to thin cervical mucus, making it easier for sperm to penetrate the cervix and reach a released egg. While some women claim the juice works immediately, others report that it takes several cycles before there's a noticeable difference. If nothing else, the juice will taste good and keep your body hydrated, which is also key for conception

I drank grapefruit during CD7-9 & I O'd sometime on CD10.  I can tell you that I had TONS TONS TONS of CM.......((warning TMI)) On CD8 & 9 there was so much that at times it was just dripping out of me!!! I also took about 800mg of gummy Vit. C, spread out through out the day, I know this helped for sure too.
We'll see in 10 days if I get my long awaited BFP ;)
The cold meds NEVER helped me at all, in fact the 2 months I tried that I had less ;(

Well ladies, so far i haven't seen anything diffrent in CM and I'm on cd14 (ovulation today or next day).  I've been drinking plenty of water so that's not the reason it's not working. Maybe I will need to take it more often next month for it to really work. I'm actually starting to get use to the taste of the Robitussin believe it or not....lol.

yeah...i could never do the robitussin. It is the guaifinesin that is the active ingredient, which is also basically a cough expectorant, or the same thing as mucinex.  You could always try that instead, as it is in a pill form.  I tried it last cycle, didn't notice a big difference myself but then again I had a weird cycle where I dont even know if I ovulated...
Good luck to you as well

So this morning i decided to start the Robitussin which has only the one active ingredient Guaifenesin.  I bought it last week and had read on the net that you should start it around 5 days before AF is due.  So today being cd10 i took two teaspoons in the morning....now it's 7:20pm and i'm dreading having to take the other two teaspoons...man, that stuff i awful!!! It's a Good thing they say you MUST take with water and drink plenty of water afterwards...LOL  But i guess i'll endure the taste in hopes that it will help us in conceiving this month.  Good luck to all!  Tons of baby dust to you ladies.

I went back through and read this because I remembered seeing it before....they'd better stock up at the grocery store because I have a feeling we will be marching out in droves...I don't think I will really like it but I  will suck it down like a champ if it might help.  And is TOTALLY cheaper than a $300 fertility monitor....LOL!

Bumping . . . because I have a feeling there is going to be a lot of grapefruit drinking going on now - LOL!

I buy the Ruby Red and just make sure it's not from concentrate.  I even asked my RE about it and she said that it would make sense for it to help and gave me an explanation as to why.  This head cold just isn't letting me remember all that she said . . .

LOL Lori!  You're drinking the good stuff right? and not from concentrate?  I'm still drinking it as well even though I'm past O.  I figure it can't hurt and it has to be better then empty calories from soda.

Yes, Grapefruit juice is great for the body.  The reason I started eating it and drinking it is because it keeps your body more alkaline(less acidic) and cleans you out better, which is the removal of toxins from your body.  The benefits definately out way the taste and I actually have grown to enjoy its unique flavour.
