Acute back pain, help?

I'm having some pretty severe back pain right now.  The pain is in the middle of my back just under my bra and just to the left of my spine.  It doesn't hurt if I'm completely still, only when I move and was so bad yesterday that I couldn't reach my left hand above my shoulder to grab my seat belt when I went to put it on!  Seems ok so far this morning, but I'm going to the doc anyway at 9:15.  I can't stand up completely or I get an intense hot pain in that area.  It doesn't radiate and it doesn't feel muscular as I had my husband press on muscles all over my back and that didn't hurt a bit...actually was a good way to milk a massage out of him!  lol   I'm getting very uncomfortable sitting here typing, but I'll check back later to see if anyone has any ideas as to what is going on with this sudden attack of "careful how you move" and "don't lift your left leg or use your left arm" pain.  Thanks in advance for any insight.  Take care.

BTW---No recent injury or anything.  Just woke up yesterday and felt a little "tight" and as the day progressed so did the pain.  Going from sitting to standing and standing to sitting is almost unbearable.  Literally cannot keep from yelling the pain is so intense.
