lower back pain with frequent urination

Hello All,

Over the last 6 weeks I have been experience lower back pain in the tailbone and buttock area that varies in intensity but seems to always sort of stick around.

This all began with several days of frequent urination.  I went to my doctor who ordered a urine test for Gonorrhea and Chlamydia and other bacteria infections and found nothing.  Within a week the frequent urination had stopped but the back pain continued.  Now six weeks later the frequent urination has returned.

I am concerned that this could be a STI as it occured within a week of having a protected sexual encounter.

Any thoughts of what this might be?

Thanks

My Family doctor ordered a ultrasound which will be in a few weeks.  My urinalysis came up negative for bacteria,  does this mean that I do not have bacterial prostatitis?

Thanks

Thanks,

Those symptoms are very consistent with mine.   When I had my urine tested 6 weeks ago, the doctor at the clinic gave me a prostate exam and found nothing wrong  but I will mention it to my family doctor when i see him next week.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was prostatitis.
