There are some stretches that can help if it is a pulled muscle, it sounds more like a pinched nerve, muscle relaxants (prescribed by a doctor) can help loosen the muscle around the nerve. Ice and heat can also do the same thing. Resting it and not over exerting it will give it time to get better on its own. If you don't want to go to a doctor over the counter pain pills can help. Other than that you seem to be doing the right thing. Good Luck, hope you feel better!
I too suffer from left shoulder blade pain. Mine also radiates into the left part of my neck and down into the top of my left shoulder. Part of my pain is due to my trapizious muscle. U may want to do some research into that particular muscle group as it can cause some serious pain in that region. A chiropractor will be a good source in helping to find the root reason why ur having pain there to begin with, I wish u the best!!:)
Well finding out the cause might be helpful. If this is a recent issue and you think it might be just a temporary muscle problem, there are always massages or chiroprators to help readjust your back, which will result in loosening of tightened muscles. If this has been going on a while, it might be good to see your doctor for a possible referral to physical therpay or a pain specialist or an MRI to look for tissue damage. Resting of the affected arm is definitley a good idea so the muscle can heal. And anti-inflammatory pills are always better than Tylenol if you can tolerate them. Other than that, personally I found Tigeer Balm to be the ONLY muscle rub that worked for me-the others are useless. Hope you feel better soon.
