Chronic back pain & doctors find nothing wrong?

Anyone else have chronic back pain and have had XRays & MRI's oly to hear the Dr. say there's nothing wrong other than normal wear-and-tear? @#$?!

So, they give me meds that don't help and I'm stuck suffering with it. Been this way since age 17 and I am now 35. My grandmother had Degenerative back disease at an early age.

What about lyme disease?  I had it for a year and a half before they figured out what it was.  By then, although I did receive months of treatment, the lyme had done damage that could not be reversed.  I have fibromyalgia as a result and some days can barely walk in the morning.  Not every day is bad though.  Just a thought.  Good luck to you.  It is horrible to be in pain and to not have any answers.

Hi

I had the same problem. Suffered from backache for 6 years (from 17) and thought nothing of it. Then all of my other joints starting hurting and within 3 months I couldn't bend my fingers/hands in the morning. I went to a rheumatologist and got diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis right away. Try to get to a rheumatologist or ask your doctor about fibromyalga and arthritis. Do you have pain or stiffness in any other joints? especially in the mornings.

Has anyone mentioned Fibromyalgia or Rheumatoid Arthritis to you?

I'm going through a similar thing at the moment and my Dr reckons it could be either of these.  Get checked for arthritis anyway, it's not possible to diagnose fibromyalgia by a blood test but the rheumatoid arthritis will show as far as I know.  I'm getting bloods taken this week just to start an elimination process if nothing else. Sick to death of the pain and for no reason apparantely!

Good luck....
