DDD and chronic pain neck and arm

I have DDD in my neck and was involved with a motor vehicle accident.  Since then l now have a chronic burning ache pain in my lower left arm radiating down into my hand along with tingling. Wondering if the accident has made my DDD worse and brought on these sypmtoms. Have had two years of physio no relief.

Hello back from Helicoptercm,

I've had a MRI and xrays with no results but the DDD condition. I had no neck pain and no pain/burning in my arm previous to my MVC and now have both. Have had physio for two years with little results. Any further comments are more than welcome.

It sounds like  you have a herniated disc in your neck, which is likely if you have DDD.  I have the same thing and my herniated disc caused stenosis, which caused the radiating pain down my arm.  After this long, I would have an MRI to see what is going on.  I just had an ACDF after years of trying everything to alleviate the pain. You also want to be sure there is no compression of the spinal cord.  Good luck!

hey. new to the site. dont know what DDD is sorry. but from what you are saying if you had these symptoms before and they got worse since your accident sounds like it did make it worse. should i assume the DDD involves nerves?  i have permanent nerve damage from severe spinal problems and the burning and tingling is definitely nerves.

physical therapy i find only helps when you are healing from broken bones or joint surgery. i have to go to aquatic therapy after my two major back surgeries three wks. ago. i think it would help me gain some mobility.

there are some nerve medications out there but i think they have some pretty serious side effects. check into that because you cant possibly have any quality of life if you're in discomfort all the time. it gets tiring and makes you feel soooo old.

good luck. let me know what happens.
