Getting my throat slit with hopes of not getting killed.

I got hurt at work a couple of years ago from a fall off a ladder, I have gone through the gammet of total misery. I have been to Orthopedic Specialists, Neurologists, Pain Management Specialists, and Neuro Surgons. I have had EMGs done, which were inconclusive. I have had epidural injections, tense theraphy, more medication treatment than I can stand, even went as far as having a Spinal Cord Stimulator implanted into my back and neck. Now the Neurosugon wants to go in and R&R my C6-C7 disk. I am in constant pain without question, the SCS helps, but my God I am starting to feel like a R&D (Reserarch & Development) lab rat. Did the surgon forget his Rolex in there when he did the SCS implant or is that just my hypecritical assessment? The idea of someone slitting my throat and trying not to kill me doesnt excite me much and doesnt sound like its going to be a good week. I have absoultely no idea as to what I am in for here, but I can tell ya without question... I would be a liar and a fool to say I wasnt scared, however the surgon does seem to know his stuff quite well, so with faith in God and faith in my surgon I hope it will be okay. Maybe a little insight from those who have had this type of surgery, maybe a little insight from those who preform these types of surgeries.

Thanks in advance.
A Scared Patient.

I'm not a doc either, and I haven't had the surgery - yet. I am scheduled for the SCS test on Thursday and I'm nervous about that. Everyone says it provides some relief, but then I see post like yours... I do have a friend who had the surgery you are scheduled to have and he came out fine. I would ask my doctor how many times he's done that surgery. That might give you some comfort. Some doctors have a lot of experience with that type of surgery and hopefully your doctor does. From what I've heard and seen from my friend it is a fairly safe surgery - then any time you go under the knife there are risk. Like "Selma" I will keep you in my prayers and hope everything works out well for you.
Good luck.
