Im trying to understand my thoracic MRI results, neurologist didn't explain. I was involved in a rear-end collision. The pain when i breathe deep radiates to my ribs, is this herniation causing this?

I have excruciating stabbing pain on my upper back directly behind the left rib, even when i breathe it hurts so much!  Would physical therapy help something like this? I want this pain to go away!

You have a disc herniation that is protruding into the Neural Foramina (this is the area where the spinal nerves emerge from the spinal canal) that is narrowing this area and more than likely impinging the nerve on the left side. This can cause an enormous amount of pain. Do you have pain down your arm on the left side, upper back?

Schmorls Nodes are like mini bulges, part of the disc material protrudes through the
vertebral body endplate. They may or may not cause symptoms.

I believe it means that you have joints that have formed along the thoracic spine and arthritis has caused some inflammation. Deep breating will do that when inflammation occurs. I'd ask your doc about an anti-inflammatory or just try Aleve. Good luck!
