Is having increased pain 4 weeks after RFA normal?

I had RFA done bilaterally on L5,S1,2,and 3. The operation didn't go so well on the right side and the pain was supposed to feel like a sunburn. I have some pain locally (more itching than anything else), pain down my butt, hips and down my thighs, occasionally down my legs. I get no relief from laying down, sitting, standing, walking. Within the last week I need help getting out of bed and finding everything way more painful. It's worse than it was prior to this procedure. I don't get to see my doctor until the end of January.

I've had RFA's done on my lower back and neck for years. The last Dr. I had did my RFA on C5/6 and I had the same symptoms you are experiencing. Feeling like I had a sunburn and increased pain. It lasted about 3-4 months. Honestly, I think it all depends on the Dr. My regular pain management Dr. moved away and left his practice to this other guy. He wasn't good. I found a new Dr. with much better results. Hope this helps you. All Dr's have different skills. Find a good one.
