L5 S1 bulge causing pain during intercourse and urination

Hello, I was diagnosed with a small bulge of my L5S1 disc abouy a year ago. Since then I have been doing physical therapy to help strengthen my core ( this isnt working). The problem that I am having is that everytime I have intercourse I am in severe pain. I void after because I get chronic UTI's and when I do this now it hurts so much . It is a burning pain that lasts about 2 hours after I have intercourse. I have been with the same partner for over 3 years and have been tested for every kind of STD out there everything comes back negative. Sometimes it feels as if I have a UTI and they do a urine culture and nothing is wrong. When I go to the bathroom it feels like I have to go and nothing happens. Ever since my back injury I have developed all of these problems. I can no longer reach an orgasm ever since I injured my back. Can the disc bulge in the L5S1 be doing this? and should I have surgery because this problem has been going on for over a year now and nothing has helped?

I can relate in some ways to what you are feeling.I do not have any pain but I myself have had on and off infections so I know what they feel like. I have a bulge at l4-5 and also some changes to the l5-s1. I get the feeling also at times like i am getting an infection but I don't have one. It can last from a few hours to a few days. I get a pressure feeling and sometimes the pain but I also noticed this happens when I have bad back pain. I usually start drinking cranberry juice right away or I get the pills from the store that help your bladder. This helps me. I am not sure if it is because they help calm down the bladder. I feel it is related to my back because I have been checked for infections when I feel this way and there is nothing. Of course you have the doctors that say it has nothing to do with it but I know how I feel.
Nerves can be touched that go to different parts of your body when there is a bulge so I feel at times the nerves to the bladder may be irritated.
I also get an uncomfortable buzzing feeling in my vagina at times. It feels like a cell phone. I did a search on this and found so many people have this and when they try to explain it they all the say the same thing. Like a cell phone on vibrate. I have told the gyn and she never heard if it but she knows i have problems with my back and she says it sounds like either a muscle twitching or a nerve misfiring. I also told my massage therapist and he also never heard of it but he said the same thing. It sounds like a nerve misfiring, so my point is that if a nerve is misfiring that leads to my vagina why can't it also interfere with the feelings in you bladder.
I just wanted to let you know that the over the counter pills do help with the bladder problems though, for me anyway. I do not know if you have tried them or not.
