Long term back problems, now sudden calf pain

I have long term back problems, and have had three spinal  surgeries in the past. I have been left with walking difficulties and severe pain, last night I started to feel pain in my left calf, about 3 or 4 inches below my knee. The pain gradually increased through the night, keeping me awake for most of it. It eased off this morning, but is now starting to build again. About three months ago a similar thing happened, though the pain wasn't so severe, and it went away after a few hours.
There is no redness or swelling, but my leg is really tender to the touch, and is also painful when I stand up or walk.
Is this anything to worry about please?

Glad the muscle relaxant worked for you. Most pain syndromes have multiple sources of pain. Knowledge of anatomy and disease state development helps one identify and understand these possible sources, and helps people find appropriate help.

i have had 2 surgerys for l4-5 & l5-s1 disk herniations in 1995 & 2006. I was ok xcept could not lift and had upper back pain if i stood for too long. Then  recently had another back injury from carrying grocerys and developed severe right leg pain - felt like a truck ran over the leg and i had to use crutches. Also waking up middle of night w severe leg pain unrelieved by narcotics and tens unit. Went to neurosurgeon who said a lot of symptoms related to spasm. He gave me valium to take every 8 hours and this relieved 90% of the pain. Now i am going to go to physical therapy to try to fix up the problem so i can avoid another surgery.

So my recommendation is to have the dr evaluate you for spasm and treat it.

3 year has pass since 2009 when the Bulging L5 / S1 disc get me to rest for almost 20weeks.

Luckily i did not go for operation as recommended by a senior consultant & professor.

I am fully back to normal health for the last 2 year.
