Lower back pain

About 6 months ago I started waking up at silly hours of the night with my lower back all tight and very uncomfortable and sore the only was to stop this was to get up and walk around for half an our, then it was as if I had nothing wrong with me and my day would be normal apart from tiredness as I'd been up since silly o'clock, at first was every now and then, now it's everyday. I thought may be bed but come to realise its not as happens where ever I sleep ie sofer, friends bed. Family's houses...
I'm starting to think its how Im sleeping I've tried on back on tummy on side it just doesn't matter however I sleep I wake in great discomfort..
I've rang to book doctors appointment but don't c the point I rang on Monday morning once when I was in pain and I got appointment for Thursday afternoon whitch I new I wouldn't be in pain then so never went.

I've tried everything, highering my pillows, lowering pillows the way I sleep but no hope,
Once I wake with it I'm up for day as if I go back to bed with in half hour it's back, I do shift work and on nights it's causing me problems as I'm not getting enough sleep then I'm struggling through work does anyone have any idea what could be wrong with my back.......

Hi there!

Well, without a clinical evaluation it would be difficult to determine the cause of your symptoms. Possibilities that may need to be considered include postural issues, spinal causes such as degenerations, inflammations; neuro-muscular causes, growths/ masses etc. I would suggest consulting an orthopedician for an evaluation. After a cause is identified it can be managed accordingly. Meanwhile you could try warm compresses and/ or OTC tylenol/ NSAIDS for pain relief and see if these seem to help.
Hope this is helpful.

Take care!

I had the same problem for about 6 years. It is related to tight hip flexors (psoas, illiacus and hamstrings).

After trying many things (Yoga, PT, core strengthening)  I started this exercise program about 2 months ago and my pain is gone

Hope this works for you. Good luck!
