I am having the same exact problems with my neck, it's on both sides and hurts in the base of my skull and then turns into a horrible headache that also hurts in my temples and behind my eye's...it feels like someone has hit me in the head! I have been having it for 2 weeks straight and it happend after I took a fall hiking! Let me know if you figure out what it could be!
Both of you should consult a neurologist.you need to have tests to rule out brain injuries that can cause migraines. You may also have disc herniations but this can only be diagnosed with an MRI
I was wondering about a herniated disc but I don't know much about the symptoms, I was told about 4 years ago after a neck x-ray that my neck was curved the wrong way (I saw the x-ray and it was really weird) At that time I was working with a chiropractor and it got better for a while but now it is horrible! I also felt like I had multiple pinched nerves in my neck as well lately so that didn't help with the pain! I just didn't know if maybe it was just a pinched nerve causing everything?
I've thought about a herniated disk and pinched nerves, but I'm not getting any tingling or numbness in my arms and legs. All the symptoms are based around my neck/head area. I was thinking about it yesterday and one thing that does seem to help slightly is a really hot shower. But it only releives the pain for about an hour afterwards. Also resting my chin on my chest gets rid of the pressure feeling at the back of my head. Again though it only lasts for as long as I do it. Apart from that my best option is sleep and hope that it's gone in the morning. If it goes on for much longer I'm going to have to go to the Docs :-(. When I do I'll let you know what they say Kim.
Hello ~ my symptoms are similar to yours. (Pain at base of skull and the headache that is on both sides of the head). When I get this pain it is because I need a chiropractic occiput adjustment. This is the only thing that will get rid of these headaches for me. good luck.
Thanks! I am going to try to get in with a new chiro today to see if it can help! Yesterday was awful, a pounding head all day and it just felt like my neck couldn't support my head any longer. I don't have any numbness or tingling either so hopefully something is just a little out of place?!
It could be a herniation but you can't tell without an MRI. Even so, a herniation isn't the end of the world. It can be managed and you might never get a symptom again. Posture correction both awake and sleeping are important. Especially the sleeping position. Stretch daily and do some light strengthening exercises. And don't stress out. It almost sounds like you're getting bad tension headaches. Look into TMS (tension mytosis syndrome). A lot of people think its voodoo but I read a Sarno book and it helped me a lot.
Thanks! I went to the new chiro on friday, he said I need full x-rays of my neck and back. He placed his hands on my shoulder and felt around and said I felt pretty bad! He thinks I have a reverse curvature still in my neck and my neck vertabreas are completely turned left. Then he thinks in my lower back the same thing is happening with my verts. I just hope he can help! Getting the x-rays tomorrow, but I hope it's not a herniation, I guess he couldn't tell by the x-rays anyways!
Ive been having the same problems as you guys, I have this horrible tightness and pain in my neck which started about two days ago on a verry stressfull day for me, the pain first started with my upper neck on the right side right below were the hair ends which subsided when I awoke the next morning. But then I wake up this morning and the whole back of my neck is in pain, and I cant stretch it or touch it without pain. And it comes with verry annoying pains in both temples and ears and behind my eyes as well. And thats not the worst part, my shoulders both are in pain when I move them, or lift things. All the way down to the palms of my hands, and then when I change sleeping positions at night, my hips hurt the same way and all the way down to my feet .. I just feel terribly weak latly along with all of these terrifying symptoms.. can anyone tell me what might be going on with me????
What you describe sounds like some of my symptoms of Chairi malformation. You might want to talk to your doctor about it. There are several types of Chairi malformation, type 1 is where the brain extends into the spinal cord and is present at birth, but may not cause any problems or symptoms until later in life. It is very treatable with surgery. Check it out online and ask your doctor. Many blessings.
