Neck pain killing me

I have all over pain, symptoms exactly like CFS. Seens many "reg" docs but no specialists as of yet due to no insurance and now caring for my disabled father with PSP and we're broke.

Ive had Xrays but they only showed slight curve in spine from top to bottom. They dont believe me that Im in chronic pain and I cannot perform daily duties aroudn the house. Ive tried Ultram, Darvocet, Fiorect (have chronic painful headaches) Flexeril, Skelaxin and tons of other non-narcotics but never given anything stronger.

Anyway, my neck pain is killing me. Its the worse pain out of everything I have. I dont know what to do.

It can be very difficult to cope with the symptoms of neck pain and other issues related to chronic fatigue syndrome or fibromyalgia.  Not having insurance makes obtaining evaluation and medical treatment even more problematic.

Given the hurdles to medical treatment you are currently experiencing, you do need to focus on methods of home care that you can implement yourself.
Go to the top of the forum page and in the "search MedHelp" box enter the following terms:
"neck pain", "fibromyalgia" and "chronic fatigue syndrome"

Each separate term will bring up reference material (medical glossary, health pages and health videos) which can provide further information regarding these conditions and treatment alternatives, many which can be done at home.  It also brings up the posts made by other members of the forum who are dealing with similar symptoms.  Reading some of the prior posts may give you additional information regarding how others are dealing with the daily management of their symptoms.  Hopefully you will find these references to be helpful,

There are also reference articles and links to Social Security Administration tools to determine eligibility for disability.  Even if you do not think you qualify for assistance at this time, it will give you guidance regarding how to file at a later date and what are the requirements.

Hope you find some helpful suggestions and that you can deal with the pain and other symptoms to manage your condition.  Keep us posted on your progress ----

YOU SOUND LIKE A LOT OF WHAT I WENT THROUGH WAY BACK WHEN, WITH ALL MY PROBLEMS. I WOULD SUGGEST SEEING A RHEUMATOLOGIST WITH COMPLAINT OF FIBROMYALGIA. THAT IS THE VERY BEST PLACE TO START. YOU NEED TO BE PLACED ON MEDICATION; NUMBER ONE TO HELP YOU SLEEP SOUNDLY AT NIGHT. IF YOU WAKE UP VERY FATIGUED YOU MIGHT WANT TO ASK ABOUT RESTLESS LEG SYNDROME (RLS) WHICH IS A HORRIBLE THING TO DEAL WITH, AND IF YOU SLEEP ALONE YOU MAY NOT EVEN KNOW THAT YOU HAVE IT. MAJOR PRIORITY IS MEDICATION TO HELP YOU REACH THE DEEP SLEEP LEVEL. IT IS THEN THAT THE GROWTH HORMONE IS SECRETED AND THAT IS NEEDED TO FIX ALL THE MINUTE TEARS THAT WE GET IN OUR MUSCLES THROUGHOUT THE DAY. IT YOU DON'T GET TO REM SLEEP YOU CAN'T REPAIR THOSE. ALSO THE MEDICATION THAT THEY GIVE YOU FOR SLEEP CAN ALSO HELP YOUR BODY PRODUCE ITS OWN ENDORPHINS (THE BODY'S MORPHINE), AS WELL AS HELP WITH DEPRESSION. (IT IS DEPRESSING TO LIVE WITH PAIN ALL THE TIME) BUT THE MED IS USUALLY GIVEN AT BEDTIME SO THAT YOU CAN SLEEP AND ALL THESE THINGS CAN BE RIGHTED IN YOUR BODY SYSTEM. THEN NEXT TACKLE THE PAIN ISSUE (WHICH YOU MAY FIND HAS DECREASED SIGNIFICANTLY ONCE ON MED TO HELP YOU SLEEP. IF YOU ARE STILL HAVING PAIN THEN YOU GO ON TO TACKLE THAT. IF YOUR RHEUMATOLOGIST IS UNABLE TO GET YOU PAIN FREE, THEN YOU NEED MRI'S AND IF SURGERY IS NOT AN OPTION, YOU NEED TO GO TO A PAIN CLINIC TO BE TREATED WITH INJECTIONS OR MEDICATION; THEY USUALLY TRY THE INJECTIONS FIRST. BEFORE I HAVE MY FALLING INJURY, I TOOK A SERIES OF LUMBAR EPIDURALS IN A SET OF 3 OVER THE SPAN OF ONE MONTH, AND THEY WERE VERY HELPFUL FOR YEARS...............BUT IT WAS MY RHEUMATOLOGIST WHO STRTED ME ON THE RIGHT PATH. I GET MEDS FROM HIM FOR SLEEP (ELAVIL- WHICH IS ALSO AN ANTIDEPRESSANT, AND HELPS YOUR BODY PRODUCE ITS OWN PAIN KILLERS, ENDORPHINS), FOR ARTHTITIS (MOBIC), FOR FIBRO (LYRICA), FOR RESTLESS LEG (KLONIPIN), AND ONLY IF NEEDED FOR SLEEP (BECAUSE THE ELAVIL MAKES YOU DROWSY) HALCION WHICH PUTS ME TO SLEEP, BUT IS NOT A MED THAT WORKS TO KEEP YOU ASLEEP, YOU MAY NEED ANOTHER TYPE FOR THAT. ANYWAY, THIS IS A SHORT SYNOPSIS OF MY FIRST 25 YEARS WITH FIBROMYALGIA. I WAS GETTING TO THE POINT WHERE I WAS NOT GOING TO BE ABLE TO CONTINUE TO WORK, AND THEN I FELL OUT OF BED, AND THAT REALLY DID ME IN. I HOPE ALL THIS HELPS YOU.
