Nerve root tumor removed from C7

I had surgery in Sept. to remove a schwannoma on my nerve root.Tumor was about 4cm. It all started about May 06. I had pins and needles in my left hand and every time I sneezed or coughed I had horrible pain. First MRI was misread and I went a whole year without any diagnosis. Any way post surgery I have lost feeling in my left hand and I am experiencing pain in left hand as well. Dr. says time will tell. Has anyone out there had this type of surgery and if so what was your post op like?????

Thanks for the comment. really -I have entered a couple of these forums and have yet to recieve any feedback. My doctor gave me a script for the tens unit- ya know I have insurance but keeping up with meds and all the dr bills is another problem- but i guess I should go get it. Now does the tens help with rebuilding nerves or just pain management? I will do anything to get to sleep again without this pain.....
Good Luck to you too!

hey. i am 18 days post surgery on my C7...i had a ruptured disc and parts of it and cartilege were pressing on my root nerve. very painful as you well know. i still have pain. i think nerve damage is slow to heal. hang in there and stay optimistic. its easy to get scared on these forums because a lot of people have returning pain after neck surgery. i am trying to teach myself how to cope with pain and how to work around situations that aggrevate my neck. im here with you.
can you get a persription for a tens unit? i use one and it really helps. good luck
