Shoulder Pain

I am a 23 year old female and was rear ended in a car accident back in July 2012.. I saw the car coming in my rear view mirror, tensed up and grabbed onto the steering wheel. My 2 young daugthers were in the car with me. We all went to the hospital to get checked out. They told me my arms and shoulders would be sore for a couple days. Most of the pain went away except the throbbing, deep pain around my left shoulder blade.
I've been in physical therapy since the end of July and was since forwarded to a pain managment specialist who has been giving my injections in the muscle surrounding the shoulder blade. He also sent me for an MRI which I just learned came back normal.
What would be going on? I'm not really getting enough answers.

I was in physical therapy for about ten months after a car accident years ago.  (I was rear ended and subsequently ran into the car in front of me.)  It is a hard slow process and I never have gotten fully back to pre-accident condition, but improved greatly with therapy and I do hope you will find improvement soon.  You might want to try besides moist heat, gentle massage and/or acupuncture in your quest for recovery.

Soft tissue damage can hurt for a long time.  Its good news that the MRI came back good.  I would suggest continuing PT.  Not using your shoulder because it hurts can cause troubles known as frozen shoulder if I remember correctly.  If your doctor is injecting you with cortisone that can hurt more for a while before it gets better.  I hope you get to feeling better soon!
