Swelling and pain in neck

Hello,
Any advice would be appreciated! Im a 29 year old female and the last 2 months have been having neck pain and spasms and numbness and tingling down my right arm. During my last spasm, quite a severe one, I felt around my neck and noticed swelling on the right side (the side I always have the pain and spasms) I saw my doctor the following week and was told it is a muscle sprain due to working full time at a computer and also being a student and hunched over books. I was shown exercises and to take Nsaids twice daily for a week. A week later no improvement and was given a muscle relaxant to take for 2 weeks. Its been another week and I still have the same issue and am concerned. Reading up on it online (probably a bad idea) I'm reading it could be a spinal tumor-now Im so worried! Is spinal tumors rare and are my symptoms pointing to that? Thanks for any help or advice!

my friend had the same symptoms she had severe carpal tunnel syndrome. you have the exact same symptoms as she used to complain to me about.  I would seriously look for a doctor that takes care of it immediately.  she had been to over 5 doctors in this small town i live in for that all they kept giving her were steriods for pain.   It had all her arm and neck in pain due to pinched vein.  it is a very serious condition they said if she would have WAITED ANY LONGER she would have lost ALL muscle control in that shoulder and arm. good luck and hopefully this helped
