Weight, smokers and length of pain

I was curious to how many of you who have had unsuccessful fusion of lower lumbar and sacrum area continued to smoke during the recovery process and/or were overweight and/or waited more than six months to have your surgery.   I am about to undergo a fusion of lumbar 5 and sacrum 1.  I am a non-smoker since August, a bit well-nourished in the abdomen and have experienced severe sciatica pain less than six months.   I added a few other poll response choices.

That's good news.  I am a bit of a chunk, too.  I like to call it well-nourished.   I am only a summer smoker b/c I work in the schools and get bored in the summer.  This summer I wont' be smoking due to the surgery.  Thanks for your words of confidence.  :)

I am a bit chunk.. lol.
From the time I first had a problem to surgery was over a year and a half and I smoke.
Surgery was 3 months ago and at my 3 mo check up all was good.
