back pain

Before, I only used to have pain in my lumbar region; but recently I'm having pain in my Thoracic region as well. My lower back pain could be the result of my regular exercises in past as I used to do gymnastics but now the pain in the upper region has surprised me a lot.
I don't know if it's just because of the unusual sleeping patterns or something else. I would reallly appreciate it if you can give me a hint about it being just a regular pain or a symptom to some kind of disease.
Thank you.

i'm somewhat dealing with the same back pain issue.  my pain started about 1.5 yrs ago in my lumbar region of my back and then radiated up into my thoracic.  oddly, i have stomach pain that seems to correlate with my back pain flare ups.  I was diagnosed with IBS about 7 months ago but I seriously doubt that's the cause for my back pain, albeit it might be.  I'm calling my Dr tomorrow to request he issue an MRI on my spine.  I'm extremely frustrated and tired of dealing with the pain.

Actually, my lower back still hurts but it's not that unbearable; but regarding my upper back it's not only the spinal cord region, my right portion of the rib-cage hurts too. thank you though.

Do you think maybe you are guarding your lower back because it hurts therefore you are over using your upper back? Just a thought.........

Hi,

I am having similiar problem. I dont have pain in my lower back but upper back is paining. I am a software professional.
While moving, I don't feel any pain but when I wake up in the morning, I feel a great pain even I can not sleep straight. I will have to sleep in one side with bending my back.
This is happening from past 6 days.

I used to chat on internet while was sitting in half lying condition. My this upper back used to touch with head of my bed which is having 15-20 CM height from the bed.
Please advice
