I just had C5 C6 fusion. I had a whiplash which resulted in numbness in my right hand and arm as well as sometimes in my left.  I have other problems not related to this accident with pain in my lower back and feet. The Nerosurgeon was explicit that this fusion surgery will not help the lower back. It will hopefully stop the numbness, maybe not, but what it will do is keep it from getting worse, which it most likely would do if I didin't have it done. One week now since my surgery and the numbness has lessened a lot. I am still recovering from the operation but doing much better than before in that regard. I still have the back and feet problems though, but that's another story.
