I guess the specialist thinks that since the pain is from bone spurs, that PT is useless.
I just keep exercising and that helps a lot.
I know that Mike 1105 was suggesting some different books, and exercises and that has helped a lot. I know that much of my pain is from bad posture,  and I am always trying to sit better, and get up and walk around and stretch at work.
It does help. I just wish the pain would go away as fast as it came on!
Today the whole right side of my neck is stiff and sore! I sleep on a special pillow, and sometimes it helps, sometimes it doesn't??
Oh well.
Keep me posted on how you are doing.
I would like to hear from more people that have had the Prestige procedure done.
Anyone else want to contribute?

thanks so much for the reply.  part of my surgery will be to clean up the spurs and ridges.  i am close to bone on bone and did not want a fusion, but after two years and getting worse, i am ready for some relief.  i know that my bad posture makes my situation worse, and am exerciising to try to regain some core strength, and work on my posture.
i also have TMJ and know that flair ups include my neck and shoulder muscles too, it's hard to know what causes what!
does your neck "feel" different?  did you regain more range of motion afterwards?  sounds like down time isn't too bad.  every time i start feeling better, i over-do, then feel worse and do less.
i'm sorry that you still have problems tho, i wonder why some PT would not help, it's what keeps me going!! you might think about acupuncture, its great for pain relief.  i too would love to be off meds.

Hello Straight talk.
I had the Prestige put in about 3 years ago.
I felt pretty good right after having it done. It was of course still in the clinical trial stage, and I have since moved away from the Surgeon that did it.
I now have about the same pain as I did before the surgery, and have been trying to retrain all my neck and shoulder muscles to relax a little more! It is tough to do though.
I try not to take meds to help relax, but am trying to use exercise instead.
I had the c-5 c-6 area done and still have a real problem with sore neck muscles.
I saw a new Doc a couple of weeks ago that told me PT would not help me as the Surgeon had left some Osteophytes (spelling) that were causing the pain in my neck, and in return making me tense up to cause the muscular pain!
Confused yet?
I am active, I SCUBA dive every weekend, walk, lift weights, and by no means am I sedentary except I do have a desk job. I try to get up and move, and stretch every 15 minutes or so.
I kind of wish I would not have had it done so quickly without more research, but was in the worse pain at the time, and would have done about anything to relieve it!
I felt real good for about 6 months and then headaches started coming back.
Any other questions?
Oh, I took off about 3 weeks, and then went back to light duty work, since at the time I was a Veterinary tech...lifting dogs, etc.....I took it real easy, so don't think I injured my self. The original problem was a drunk driver ran a red light and t-boned my car in the '90s
