chronic neck pain

i have had chronic neck pain for at least 5 years now. i have been in two car accidents and most doctors i see seem to think its  caused by whiplash injury to the neck. sometimes the neck is the main problem usually having pain going up into the base of my skull. if that doesnt hurt then i have discomfort across the muscles inmy shoulders. i have tried massage, chiropractic, therapy. i even saw a doctor at a pain management clinic that gave me corset shots and trigger point injections twice. i have terible problems usually when trying to sleep at night. if i tilt my head to the side sometimes my neck will crack multiple times in a row.... i have been prescribed valium and vicodin but have been using the vicodin for 2 years now and am sick of having to depend on that to ease the discomfort. any thoughts or suggestions???

You need a M.R.I. to see whats going on. Chronic neck pain is difficult to treat. You describe everything you sould have with neck pain, cracking, popping, difficulty sleeping. You really need to back to the doctor and start over if he dosen't respond to this then maybe find another docotor.

Hope I Help
