lower back (kidney?) pain

I just expierienced some intense pain on the lower left side of my back about where my kidney would be, it just happened suddenly and it hurt so bad that i couldnt move. I also felt like I was going to throw up right after it hit. it only lasted about 10 minutes or so and i decided to look it up because i thought it could be appendicitis. any ideas what it could be? if so, what actions should i take?

I'd suggest seeing your doctor and following his advice. It could be a couple of different things besides kidney stones such as diverticulitis, gall bladder, etc. Be well, get checked!

The first time I had a kidney stone was just like that. I was lucky and it was obviously a pretty small one and passed very quickly. The second time I wasnt so lucky. Its very possible it was a kidney stone and you were lucky and it passed right away. Did you have any increased urination right before that or a feeling like you had to pee and couldnt?  The feeling of nausea with the pain is really what makes me think that is what it probably was. If you went to the doctor and he did a urinalysis, you might still show crystals in the urine if that is what it was. If it was a kidney infection, you would have a fever and the area should be tender.
