pain in the neck and headache

My boyfriend just told me he woke up with pain in the right side of his neck. He also stated that if he put his two fingers there as if to take pulse he got a headache. If he turns his head to the far left its excruciating pain. What does this all mean? He has a history of hbp

Thankx for you time. Im not sure thats what it is though he still has the same pain.i appreciate it though

It means he slept wrong. He has a stiff neck. It will be score for a whole, but he had to work out the kinks. Have him do some stretching exercises on hid neck.
