The important thing is to get those MRI results to help guide your treatment and find a doctor whose approach you can relate to. I got the most satisfaction from going to an osteopath.
Seems like it is either disc herniation or a foraminal stenosis. Prolonged walking does cause pain that radiates down the leg either right or left because the lumbar spine is extended for the duration of the activity does narrowing the passage of the spinal nerve. Pain is also accentuated when going downhill.
As for sleeping, have you tried lying down on your tummy with pillow, or side lying, and see if it alleviates the pain.
If you havent seen a PT or a Physiatrist, I suggest you go see one.
I always thought pain due to a slipped disc is worse with movement and feels better at rest? my back pain seems to get better when I walk but it starts hurting if I walk too far I also get a pain behind my knee when walking in my left leg and thigh pain in my right leg.
Hi thank you for the advice the doctors originally thought I had ankylosing spondylitis and referred me to a rheumatologist it took three months for the appointment and the rheumatologist thinks it's mostly mechanical but requested a full spine MRI because she said I have symptoms of inflammation and my pain wasn't sudden it gradually got worse over the months and it severe at night time I don't get any relief from morphine my partner had a slipped disc and his pain was the same all day could i still have a slipped disc?
Hi. Your MRI results will show if you have a disc herniation that might be causing nerve pain. I'm curious why it took so long to have an MRI.
If there's nerve involvement, your doctor might prescribe medication specific for neuropathy. My nerve pain always gets worse at night.
Can I just add strangely the pain gets worse at 5 -6 PM and doesn't get any better until the next day then it gets worse at the same time
